Goldenglow bug?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:29 pm

I just got the quest from the thieves guild to raid the Goldenglow estate.

At first I tried quicktravel to the bridge near it. I traveled up the bridge and to the estate. It's locked and mean men shot arrows at me. Anyway I went in the water and tried to swim around the left side to the sewer entrance that Vex told me about. About halfway there the game locks up. Everthing is frozen and the music just plays on. I did this three times, same lockup in nearly the exact same spot.

Ok, so instead I travel to the north side on the lake the estate is on and swim to it. I get to the sewer entrance and when I click it the game locks up again. Again I do them four times and it locks every time.

So I decide to take them on head on. I go back to the bridge and fight the mercs. I kill them all and walk through the gate. I go across the bridge to the bee hives and ... you guess it, it locks up again?

It seems I can do about anything else, but if I get near this estate my game locks up.

Does anyone know how this happens or how to fix it? I'm on the PC.

Thanks.

Wow, I'm playing on the Xbox and haven't had this or even heard of this happening. Hmm, hopefully someone more versed in the world of Skryim bugs and glitches will be able to help you out. I just went through the sewer system, did the business, then went back out through the sewer. I'm sure you know this but my recommendation is to just move on to some other quests until you can hopefully get this worked out. Hope you get it fixed!

Dang this is rediculous. I made this character with the sole purpose of doing the thieves guild. I get him up to 15th level, join the guild, and my first real mission is completely bugged. I wonder if I use the console code 'tcl' will let me get through whatever it is that crashes the game. Be right back.

NOPE!

I tried 'TCL' and was levitating 10 feet off the ground. As soon as I got within about 40 feet (after grabbing the torch there) the game just locked up again.

Dang it this bites to no end. I really wanted to play this thief.

Here's a thought. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but every time I try the Goldenglow mission, a dragon attacks the place. I've done the mission three times with three different characters and it could be just coincidence, but three-for-three is either fairly solid or I should be buying lottery tickets. At any rate, try hanging tight and see if you get the attack before trying the sewer entrance. Alternatively, you might be able to pick the back door of the estate if you've already cleared the mercs. Just sayin'.

A dragon did attack the first time I tried to get in (so much for the lottery), but that was several saves ago and I can't go back to a save prior to starting this mission without losing 4 levels and I have no idea what all I did up to that point.

I noted this mentioned a few times on the PC bug forum, but seems some could get past it using tcl.

Well you could try loading your save and then fast traveling to somewhere else nearby. I've done this with a dragon attack inspired glitch before and it worked out. I might have traveled to a place they are known to spawn. Can't remember. Try far away fast travel if nearby doesn't work. (ie the dragon appeared at my new location and I was able to go back to where I wanted without further issue.)

And as crazed as it sounds at first try setting your audio from 48k hz to 41k in the settings.
