ED-E Gone Missing

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:43 am

This is probably a cry in vain but Ed-E has gone missing at some point around my travels and I cant replace him with the robot dog as it growls at Ed-E like he's still with me. I also still have Ed-E's perk. I've tried the Vault elevator trick, fast travelled loads and waited lots of game time but just cant get him back. Can anyone offer advice or maybe confirm if this will ever be fixed. There are hundreds of threads around the net about this.

I can't find one for him. I only see markers on the local map though so I'd have to try and figure out where he originally went missing which I have no clue.

Have you checked the Strip's North gate, and the Lucky 38?

I have the same issue. EDE is gone missing in Nellis. I can see his marker on the map, can not find him anywhere near the marker. I have checked Primm as well, not there.
I tried the Vault 22 Elevator trick, which did not work.

I will check tonight going into the suite in the Lucky 38 - any other ideas?

Damn, this is game is so buggy it's frustrating and it will make me think twice before buying something from Bethesda.

It realy upets me that I've put a lot of time in to the game and can't pick up a different npc because I can't dismiss ed-d (Hey suddle hint have a in game menu that can allow the player to do this for this reason!!!). At the end of the day i'll probibly never play it again....

I'm having the same issue. ED-E went missing in Vault 34....and I can't get him back with any of the known tricks used to make companions reappear. Now I can't recruit REX. Really annoying.

I had this issue.. It sorted it self out. You just have to go to the lucky 38 and f'k around there for a bit. the world map didnt show him for me but the area map did when I was inside lucky 38. ok... and just again... for peoples information.. Bethesda just published the game.. they did not actually CREATE the game... that was Obsidian.... >_< jesus.

I tried this for a couple of hours and still couldn't cause any changes. I'm going to just keep my fingers crossed that at some point, ED-E will magically appear again. According to the game, he's still technically present. I still have his perk. He just doesn't show up, anywhere.

If you're on Core mode, then he may have exploded. It's happened to me a few times and there doesn't seem to be any work around. Try it yourself. Make a save, and just keep shooting ED-E, or put plenty of explosives around him. He'll blow up in the same way as other robots, but remain your companion. It can easily happen if he's fighting an enemy you didn't notice.

sounds like you might need a new ps3.. or maybe restart your game.. its probably more an issue with your harddrive. My game is studdering less. Combat seems more fluid, i was in a battle with like 8 fiends half with energy weapons and the other half were punching me. and it didnt studder once. i only played it for 10 minutes.. im going to try to leave it on for a bit then travel with a few companions and try a few of the weapon re balances then get back on here.

I'm about to go install the new patch right now. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will fix, even if it doesn't mean to, the issues I'm currently having with ED-E.

Oh and yeah I'm playing on hardcoe. I should have been keeping better track of ED-E while in Vault 34. Due to the labrynthesque layout of that Vault, combined with ghouls randomly busting down doors, I was constantly getting separated from my companions (Veronica and ED-E at the time). I should have been keeping a better eye on him. By the time I noticed he was completely gone, I had assumed he had been killed and I was so sick of that Vault that I didn't even care enough to bother to go back to a save when he wasn't dead. I just wanted out of that place. I went back later after getting a bit of a break, but couldn't find his remains anywhere. I literally combed every square inch of that vault. Now, upon finding out I can't recruit REX some 40 game hours later, I wish I would have re-loaded an older save lol. Oh well I guess. I'll know the next time. It svcks it has to be like this, but no point in getting pissed about it I suppose. Keeping my fingers crossed that this patch or maybe a future one will fix this issue.

The game hasn't frozen up on me in about 5 hours since the patch installed. It did crash though, in a way that I hadn't experienced with any game I've ever played on my PS3. I was playing and my PS3 completely shut off. After a brief moment of panick, fearing that my PS3 had just died, I turned it back on with no issues since. I'm not sure if it was the game or what that caused the unexpected shutdown, it's never happened before.

ED-E is still missing in action.
