Good companion for warrior?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:09 pm

I have a two handed heavy armored warrior and i was just wondering if i should have another warrior (such as Mjoll) or a mage or an assassin or thief companion. Which do you think is the best for me?

How about a mage or bow warrior, ranged to support you?

Just love this game!

Aela and Faendal make good archers who stay out of the way. A good mage that's fairly easy to run into is Marcurio.

Marcurio is a mage in the Bee and the Barc inside Riften.

My warrior is using Aranea Ienith as a companion. It's working out splendidly.

As a 2-handed warrior myself I find that melee NPCs tend to get in the way as often as they help out. But a follower who can switch between melee and ranged can be useful too. I've used Lydia a small bit and Erik the Slayer a lot. The trick to using "hybrids" like these is to quickly run out ahead of them to meet enemies. This seems to force them to go into ranged mode.

I personally like Aranea Lenith as she has some of the most powerful conjurations to help you in battle - has good range with lightning bolts and generally stays out of your way. Lydia kept getting in the way plus Aranea can use staves pretty well as well.
