A good CPU cooler?

I want a better one than stock for my 2600k, but I don't trust myself to take the mobo out and mount a fan that requires a backplate.

Can someone recommend a good fan for me?

IIRC most 3rd party coolers require the use of a backplate, why don't you want to do this? The stock one should be more than enough for non-overclocking applications. If you are overclocking you should be fine with the slight risk that comes with mounting a backplate.

You could use cheap liquid cooling that just utilizes a rear 120mm fan. The kind with coolant already in it.
