Good followers?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:52 pm

I'm looking for followers that would fit in well with my shady thief/assasin character, It is not so much their skills but their disposition.. lore friendly to my character. Mercs..cutthroats..etc.

Eola...she's an absolute beast of a fighter. And very evil. You'll find her in Markarth, where the dead lay.

For the sake of adding to the thread... Who's a good follower just to have around in general? Lydia's a bit of an a-hole.

I don't really know followers tend to level porly so they don't last for more than a few levels I also suggest Elola and also erandur they both have similar styles if fighting which is cool too

I never took a follower on my Thief/Assassin character. They break stealth too frequently and tend to get in the way when I'm trying to sneak undetected. If I had to take on it would be Eola because she has a high sneak ability and she has the dark side thing down.

Marcurio, Eola, and Aranea are the best IMO.

I've tried Janessa, Lydia (got sick and tired of hearing her sarcastic, "I'm sworn to carry your burdens.") and Faendal (a little too chipper for me). However, J'zargo has been my companion the longest. He's the only follower that with no max level. He will continue to level with you. He lays behind while sneaking and hasn't blown my cover more than a couple times. He like's ranged attacks using magic, but isn't above mixing it up in melee. He's always happy to accompany you ("J'zargo is ready for more adventure!"). Don't know if he's the best follower for stealth (I like Khajiits). But as others have said if you really need to go undetected go alone.

J'zarog is trash. There was a thread about this subject the other day. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1360255-marcurio/

If you want a strong companion that is also proficient with stealth, then go with Eola.

Ahtar the Jailor. He went quite well with my Imperial battlemage, until we came across two Hagravens and a Forsworn Briarheart. I tried Erik with my thief/rogue for a couple of quests, but sent him home. I think thieves should go it alone too.

The best sneaking is that one guy from Dark Brotherhood I'm not gonna put his name because it's spoiler and on my iPhone I kinda cant. His sneak is 100 at max level so best sneak follower a second is Aela from companions. If you want a detailed follower guide look up "Follow Me!" on YouTube.

Nobody mentioned Cicero?
He's completely crazy, an assassin, and he'll be your best killing buddy forever.
Spoiler
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Cicero for info on him and how to hire him, has spoilers.

Mhhh, so you want an evil Sneaker then go for Cicero or alternatively an Dark Brotherhood Initiate,
Eola would be a 3rd choice. She is "evil" but can't sneak as good as the other 2.

Cicero and Dark Brotherhood Initiates. Decent stealth. Cicero is totally insane and quite chatty. 'Ooooooh, Whiterun! Home to the Companions! I could steal from them and - oh, no, nevermind.' 'Thieves. Why steal someones things before killing them? And they call me crazy!" Aranea is quite good too.

Exactly, the Great Cicero  give him a Forsworn Armour and some good enchanted weapon and he will fight better than most even an elder dragon or a Giant
Spoiler
and don't forget the "Mythic" Lucien Lechance when you have done some of the Db quests;i have immensely fun (at least at the beginning  ) only hearing the dialogue lines of both, even personalized for every Skyrim city

Jenassa: “Blade and shadow, silence and death. These are my arts. For a modest fee, I'll make great art for you.”

I’d still make her wait outside for stealth purposes, though.

I also like her comments and with specialized followers she is a pretty decent dual wielder.

Too bad she is bugged for me and whenever she has her weapon not sheathed goes into blocking mode and is therefore f*ckin slow...

@OP

Gotta agree with most of the people here: Unmodded you would want Cicero or Eola.

I thought you could not get Cicero or other DB followers without finishing the DB questine?
I had Jenassa I did like her, she "sorta" fit, but I think I lost her.. :o
I'm going to check out Eola next.
TY for all the suggestions so far!

As others have said, Eola would fit very well, provided you don't mind doing a daedric quest to get her. Not to mention she's a decent fighter.

Cicero is good for Assassins.

As for a good follower in-general. Try Derkeethus.
