Good Co-Op games.

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2011 6:19 pm

Hey, me and a friend is looking for a decent Co-Op game. We have a few criterias though.

Not too old. His machine is a dual core with a GTX 8800. Preferably something developed for that generation of hardware.
Length. Either good replayability or a long game.
Not too pricy (although I guess criteria 1 takes care of that).

So far my only ideas are Titan Quest or Borderlands. But I'd love to hear some ideas.

EDIT: Not Minecraft!

We thought about portal, but we need some more action really, and a big world of some kind.
I guess we're really looking for some kind of RPG or a game with RPG elements.

As of yet, Borderlands is looking the most promising.
I wish STALKER had Co Op. :)

We're looking for a "full game" if you know what I mean.
Not quick matches or sessions. Something we can play through together, and L4Ds campaign isn't very long. Also we're just 2 players.

As for Resident Evil, I'll have a look, didn't know those games had Co Op.

I think it's a really fun game. I recommend it, unless you already have it for the Xbox (if you have an Xbox)

I've been trying to play Baldurs Gate 2 with my brother but he cares too much about graphics so he never wants to play. I hate [censored] like that.

I wouldn't recommend Borderlands. It's fun for a few hours and it quickly gets boring and repetitive. Resident Evil 5 is fun I played that through with my brother. We actually got to the end of the game in a single session that went for 10 hours. The end boss fight is extremely cryptic with the absolute worst quick time events. It was really disappointing because we went through the entire game straight and couldn't beat the boss. But yeah, I'd say RE5 is a pretty solid Co-op game. Though it probably won't satisfy your RPG needs. Also I can guarantee the inventory will piss you off.

Don't play Saints Row 2 on the PC. It's a horrible port

And Sacred 2 is fun as a hack & slash. I managed to get to level 20 with my co-op character before we stopped playing but that's what he wanted... teens and their attention spans. But If it was up to me we would have kept playing. It also has very good co-op feature wise. You can trade and heal and do all of that. And joining a match on LAN is easy. I should warn you though, you need to buy 2 copies of the game if you want to play together.

I give a second recommendation to Sacred 2 if you want to go the RPG/Hack&Slash route. OP you should do a google search on the map size in Sacred 2. That was what sold it for me.

Serious Sam has coop you could check that out. I usually see it in Steam sales, but original price is $20 for two games. Titan Quest is great and Borderlands if fun in short bouts at a time. Another good suggestion is the original Neverwinter Nights and its expansions, though the second game is on Steam, and while fun does have a clunky UI. If you want an "MMO" you could look at Guild Wars, it has heroes to fill out the party if it is just the two of you, or get more friends to join in. Call of Duty: World at War is slightly older but has coop for about 80% of the campaign if I recall right.

Borderlands and Titan Quest are both fun.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is also good fun in COOP mode.

I would suggest to wait for the summer sale if you guys don't mind though, you could end up with a bunch of coop games for low prices. I know Dragon Rising was very cheap ($5) a while ago and usually the summer sale has repeats from past sales.

Too bad you guys don't have PS3s, because Little Big Planet is a huge game and has some of the best co op I've ever seen.

If they had PS3s I would have suggested Champions: Return to Arms.

While it is a PS2 game I had so much fun playing this game with my friend. It becomes such a hard game if dont level and collect lot corretcly for the later difficulties.

I've never tried the multiplayer with anyone, I really should. :D

Magicka is pretty fun. Not super long, but I'd say it has decent replayability and it's also cheap.

Titan Quest as you suggested yourself is also a nice idea. Fun, very long, decent graphics and http://store.steampowered.com/sub/402/?snr=1_5_9__13
