Good gaming monitor?

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:22 am

I'm looking to upgrade my PC monitor to something that can push 1080p or higher (considering my hardware is laughing at me and my 720p-ness atm). Any good choices?

No point, more expensive and don't really care for the huge thick black line splitting the images up. It's a cool novelty, I'll give you that, but a waste.

I was thinking of getting http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/samsung-syncmaster-fx2490hd/4505-3174_7-34201070.html?tag=contentBody;img34201070#reviewPage1 for myself, but hadn't really decided yet. Check it out and see if it suits your fancy.

It depends on if you're splitting the game across two monitors or using the second monitor for other things. I'm so used to having more space for windows (not Windows) that I can't live without multiple monitors, but yeah, for gaming it's a bit of an investment. I wish there were more 1920x1200 monitors out there. IMO 1080p is too narrow for a monitor, but maybe I just got used to 16:10 monitors.

I'm not talking about using both monitors for gaming (displaying the game across both monitors), I'm just thinking about everything else you do on the computer. Having two monitors is like going from dial up to broadband (well maybe not quite, but it's a huge improvement anyway)

I've gotten so used to having two monitors that I feel almost handicapped using a computer with just one monitor.

Same here!

The monitors I have aren't massive but having 2 is brilliant, I've even extended my love of 2 monitors and replicated my setup at work.

 If they made me use one monitor at work I'd probably quit. :P

Buy two monitors

Well he already has a monitor, so if he buys a new monitor for gaming he will have... two monitors. They don't have to be the same resolution, right?

Got a budget for this? That might help us assist you in choosing something in you price range.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236091. I have this one myself and have no issues with it. No reflective screen is what really sold it for me.
