Oh, my, goodness. Honestly, are they really trying to get people to advertise for them for free ? And is this based on the grounds that users will have fun while doing it ?

With billions of people on this planet they may just be right, there just may be some people here who will endorse this new advertising feature on the Kinect. But I fear they will be greatly outnumbered by the people who feel revolted at the mere mention of such a notion. I don′t have an X-box and thus it follows I don't use Kinect, but even if I did I would most certainly not participate in spreading the curse of mass advertisemants to those who I keep contact with.

They think consumers like ads? You're already paying for Xbox Live and they want to spend their budget improving the ads that shouldn't even be there.

This is another reason I'm a PS3er. They don't seem to understand that people don't like the [censored]storm of ads there already is.

Reminds me of something I read that Apple patented a while back. It's a patent for... something that uses a camera in your Apple device (That will stop everything you're doing and make you watch an ad) to make sure that you actually watch the ad. As in no looking away or it will pause itself until you watch it all the way through. Now I have no idea if this will ever some to pass, but the fact that they have even thought about it scares me a little.

Granted, this is something a I read a while back, so I may not be remembering it correctly, but just the thought bugs me.

I use addblockers on my browser and the mute button on my TV. The occasional funny-ish add is not worth suffering trough all of them, much less spreading the misery. Microsoft, you're doing it wrong.

Worked for Rupert Murdoch, though. They even have a fancy name for the time when advertising is worst, "prime time", as if it somehow makes it more palatable. People complain, but still subscribe.

This thing does bother me though. Yet more spam that nobody wants. Yum yum.

Oh good. More maleficence from Xbox Live. As if being solely responsible for the existence of DLC and Achievements wasn't bad enough.

Pretty stupid. I don't even have a twitter account, and I certainly don't plan to link my Facebook to it either. What would it do for me then? Have me spam my friends on XBL?

Exactly.

Most of the advertisemants shown have to be prompted by you, the user. Most of these ambient advertising methods are useless without an incentive and I doubt anyone's going to want such a useless tool...especially companies like Toyota who'd want to drop a 30,000$ hybrid car like the Prius on such a low income market.

The only useful tool I saw on there was a schedule tool which would be good to remind users not just when TV shows come out but when games, DLC's and 360 exclusive demos are released...and it can be achieved without Kinect.
