A good lan game. No rts, no fps.

I want a good lan game, playable by 3 or 4 people.

Different from the fps and rts, we have played them too much.

Ever tried pure strategy ? You should try heroes of might and magic 3 or 4 (WARNING: DO NOT TRY NUMBER 5!!! NUMBER 1 & 2 ARE FINE BUT I WARN YOU!!! IF YOU PLAY NUMBER 5 YOUR SOUL WILL ROT AND YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!!), they are quite good strategy game that you can LAN and even better if you don′t want to go through the hassle of LAN-ing you can play it on one computer since it is turn based.

It may be a bit complicated at first (my friend thought it was but I started playing the series when I was 5, and when I was 5 everything was complicated at first) but it gets better. A game that is hard to learn but easy to master. That doesn′t make the game easy though, after all how easy it is depends on how good your mates are at strategy games. So there is no real measure of how hard it is except how good or bad those you play it with are.

So yeah, that is my recommendation.

If you guys can look past the dated graphics, i'd suggest Diablo 2.

Is Dungeon Keeper 2 too RTSish for you? If not, there you go.

Diablo 2 is a good choice.

Streets of Sim City has a Lan option if I recall.

Worms reloaded?

(note, I don't have the game but the steam page says 'Up to 4-player online and local multiplayer action' so it should work)

I personally have worms Armageddon but it might be a bit harder to get your hands on that one.

Yay, do I get my ninja badge now? :ninja:

On-topic: Titan quest can be played on a lan as well (although I must add that I thought the gameplay got repetitive long before the game was over)

if you're looking for something really different, you could try "you don't know jack." its a really quirky trivia game.

you could also try trackmania for some racing goodness. i think they still have a version that is free to download.
edit: download from http://store.steampowered.com/app/11020/ if you like.

+1 for any worms game.

Neverwinter Nights. It's turn-based, but the action is "real-time" (each turn lasts 6 seconds), so it doesn't feel slow or lacking in the action-department. I would even say that the main NWN campaign (not the expansions SoU and HotU) would be more enjoyable with several friends playing, not just soloing it. The main campaign is a lot of running about, fighting this, getting such-and-such and object... but with several people on board, the quests would probably be a lot faster-paced and less monotonous than I found them to be when I played single-player.

Titan Quest... I think it supports LAN. If so, make sure you all have Immortal Throne and the latest community patch.

Majesty! :D I don't know if supports LAN, but it sure is fun. It's sort of a strategy game, but very hands-off - you have no direct control over your units' actions. It isn't turn-based, and the only strategy is how to manage your gold and keep monsters from killing your tax collectors.

11 years later and we still have to recommend Diablo 2...that's a sad statement

If you wait with your LAN until next year we can recommend Diablo 3! (maybe..)

It has already been suggested multiple times, but Diablo 2 is all I can think of.

Civilization 4! It's a 4x, not an RTS. Loads of fun, and the games last a long time.
