Good scripting for dragon attack in whiterun

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:25 am

First time I ever saw an attack inside a big city. I call it a big city when entering necessitates a load screen.

Killed it once and had to reload because the skyforge smith snuffed it.

Second time through killed the dragon and everybody in the city came running to gawk.

Nice bit of scripting there. Naturally something like this happens, people would gawk.

ive actually never had a dragon attack inside the city's cell. i imagine they should be rather rare because beth didnt want a giant fire lizard killing off NPCs.

That's the kicker. Realism is having people die. But does that add to the quality of gameplay or is it griefing by the developer? Some realism detracts.

Realism has to be balanced somewhat with practicality.

For example, followers generally will only die if they get knocked then and hit by you - enemies will ignore grounded comrades (detracting from realism). While its realistic for followers to die in combat, its completely impractical to force the player to reload each time he or she accidently attacks their follower as well as rig it so they deaths only oncur when the player character accidentally delivers the killing blow.

If a dragon attacks your village, get the hell inside and let the guards take care of it. Damnit alvor, your fists, they do nothing! :swear:

I had a dragon attack in withhold the other night while it was fun ranmirs sister was stuck by her shop door I though nothing of it at first but after 4 days and she had not moved. Turns out she had not finished her conversation with her now dead brother so her script must of been stuck...now I wouldst mind missing a radiant quest but I do mind when things get stuck . Luckily i had another save.

But geberally I lovw fighting them in cities it judt feels so damned good!
