Got my copy

Post » Mon Apr 11, 2011 4:24 pm

Well I left here at 9am headed over got $20 worth of gas went to the local best buy got there around 9:30 am (bestbuy doesnt open till 9am) and I get there hardly no one there, they just started to remove the display with the "pre order" boxes and I was looking for the game. The woman moving the box told me that they were up front on the table and there on the table at the front was a nice flat display showing off the new releases that were popular. I picked up my PC copy and wandered the store for yet another 30 to 40 mins looking at music, videos, and pc hardware before I finally went up to the front. I got there and there still wasnt but two people that came to pick up their pre order and one guy buying one besides me. When I left there, there were still only 4 copies left on the front table (was 6 when I got there I picked up one myself)

So as of now I am loading steam in preperation to install the $50 game. Hopefully it was money well spent since I planned on using that money for a day at the gun range with my 1939 M91/30 military rifle.

On a side note I find it funny how it still says "game for windows" at the top but yet on the back it talks about needing steam that is just amazing.

What's amazing? Games for Windows is not Games for Windows Live. GFW is a certification. GFWL is a Microsoft run service.

Agreed...

It's a racketeering business if you ask me.

Ok I misread it, when I looked at it I could wear it said "games for windows Live" but it just says "games for windows" guess I looked at the cover of FO3 too many times pulling it out and putting it up.

Only thing now is im going to try and install it, double clicking steam says its already running but its not so hopefully starting the install will jump start steam if not I will have to restart.

Aside from that the setup music is pretty good.

Ok well I am installing now, Installing from disc is saying 50 mins left to install, so I got some time to read some of the threads pertaining to the game while it installs. Could also uninstall some of the older games I dont care to play anymore such as "Medal of Honor - Pacific Assault".

Oh btw since I got from bestbuy I got the preorder packet for the mercenary addition. Same happened with Mafia II, I ended up getting a pre order left over that was being sold out right as a convential copy.

Not that it matters I probably wont use this pre order addition if its just clothing, Only reason I used it on Mafia II was cause it gave me two cars as well as two different outfits.

Here is how my experience went:

I pre-ordered 3 months in advance. I was told that Best Buy couldn't guarantee a CE, but the store I was pre-ordering from was in fact receiving a couple of CE's and if I got there earlier I could get one.

At 9:15 this morning I rushed over to Best Buy, to get there early in case of a line, since they open at 10:00am. They actually open at 9:00, didn't know they had changed the store hours. I get there and ask about the CE's, they never received any, only a couple of stores did. I find out that the store closer to my house actually has two left. I then ask if I can call ahead and ask them to set aside a copy. This is against their policy, I understand.

Let me explain something, I don't have internet at my home right now so I was bringing my comp over to a friend that lives next to a Best Buy. That's why I pre-ordered from the store farther from my home.

I make a mad dash over to that Best Buy. I run up to the customer service desk and ask for the CE. He looks over to a guy standing next to me and says, " He got the last one, sorry." This guy, holding the last CE proceeds to say, " Yeah man, I can't believe it. I woke up late and still managed to get a CE. I wish I had pre-ordered though, those coasters look sweet!"

I WAS LIVID. and still am.
This is why I will no longer pre-order from Best Buy, but only take my pre-ordering to Gamestop.

I agree that is how it happens. I wasnt really concerned if I got it or not. If someone was really wanting it I would have gladly handed my copy over if I hadnt paid yet. I did how ever checked the local stores online and it said all the bestbuy`s in the city had them in stock but when I got to my local one all they had was 4 stragety guides, 4 collector stragety guides, and 6 standard PC copies of New Vegas.

I do understand your pain though, I have had alot of stores burn me that way where they say one thing then you get there and their like nope. Ive had it happened at a junkyard when I needed a replacement brake line they said same year make model as mine come to find out it was about 20 years newer, not even the same make and a different model. Other store that did it to me was Academy they told me that they didnt have any 7.62x54R that some guy bought the last one go in the next time next week they said nope some guy with an AK bought them all up for his ak. Funny considering the AK uses the 7.62x39 round. I said screw it and went to my friendly local gun shop and picked up 40 rounds of 1986 surplus czech steel core armor piercing rounds for $15 compared to $17 for 20 rounds of the commerical stuff. Its just bad business to give your customers the run around like that.

A couple of months ago I went to K-mart to pick up the coasters and FO3 discount coupon. Yesterday I check with their inventory staff and they tell me that the stores in San Diego will not receive any Collector's Editions. AWESOME :banghead:

So I went to my local Best Buy last night and asked the clerk whether they have the PS3 Collector's Edition. He checked in their store room and told me there were 'several' and I should just come in early on release date and pick one up. This morning I went there right when they opened the doors and was told they had "3 or maybe 4" copies and they are all pre-orders; the clerk was moving at a snail's pace and informed me that another nearby store had "some" CEs. This exchange took 30 minutes and by the time I got to the other store their _single_ PS3 copy was just sold.

Looks like Bethesda really messed this one up- there are tons of XBox360 copies but PS3s are rare.

The need to inform some have to inform everyone they purchased an item amazes me.
Congrats, enjoy, now go play it and stop telling me what it was like when you bought it.
My purchase included a clerk with a cash register. I parked outside on the sidewalk.
God we should all get an achievement for this.
