So I've got a stalker...

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 10:29 pm

About 3 days ago this horse started stalking me. It appears whenever I fast travel to an area not inside city walls. I can ride it without stealing it, whevenver I ride it somewhere and hop off it just slowly walks away. If I fast travel and it's there and I don't ride it, it also slowly walks away. I have not yet purchased a horse; I find them annoying. Anyone else have the horse stalker? I'm running the beta version of skyrim.

Yep either keep it and yay free horse, or kill it or disable it in the console and move on.

The walking away is just how they work, if you don't own the horse it will walk back to where it came from once you get off. It fast traveling with you but you not owning it is obviously a bug.

Same here. Was glad to see the back of it when it was killed during an incident I had with some bandits!

I get free horsies to borrow from the Riften stables (that you get either by beating up the main dude or doing a quest for the stable hand), I had a while when I would fast travel and a horse would appear, even though I'd not ridden one for ages, and had fast travelled multiple times between when I'd last ridden and when it appeared.

Haven't seen her for a while though, so I guess she's either got bored and gone home or roasted by a dragon :D

i found a horse stuck in a tree looked like it's owner was killed by a bear... along the path in the south west part of skyrim.

Ever since walking past that horse, it kept following me around too.

If i tried to ride it and get off... it would shoot into the sky or play pinball with the surrounding objects before eventually dying due to taking so my physical velocity damage. But it's funny as hell to see this horse just randomly catapult around.

I parked it in the markarth stable beside one of the horses.... it proceed to start bouncing and then it managed to kill both the horses and the stable guy before flying into the sky as it did the dead animation.

I have that horse fast traveling with me too. I wish he would just make up his mind. If he wants me to ride him, then why does he walk away when I get of his back? And how does this psychic horse know where I am going to fast travel to next?

I once had this problem too.

It started when I mounted one of the horses from a Stormcloak's camp because it was available without stealing it.
Once you dismount it, it'll walk back to the place where you mounted it for the 1st time, but everytime you fast travel, the horse will be there and start to walk back because it hadn't the time to get there.

Maybe if it has time to return to its place, it'll stop "following" the character.

Because the horse was useful for me, my solution was to buy a horse, at least this way this horse belongs to you and will not walk away.

I don't see in what this is a nuisance... Use it when you need it; don't use it if you don't.

I had the pinball horse happen to me when I did the Frost quest. I went to BlackBriar Lodge, wiped out everyone inside, got the papers, got on Frost and rode it to where Letrush was waiting for me. I rode to within a few feet of him, then dismounted. As soon as I got off Frost's back, he zoomed away sideways, hit a tree, bounced backwards into the forest and disappeared. I talked to Letrush, and he told me not to bother him until I had the horse. >_< Had to go back to a previous save and do it again. When I rode all the way up to Letrush on Frost's back, he acknowledged the presence of the horse, and Frost stayed put when I got off of him. Weird.

Um, is it my imagination, or are the horses of Skyrim all REALLY homely? I miss Oblivion horses.
