I play on Windows 7, downloaded from Steam, so no boxed product of any kind. The shadows are a little off; not exactly where they're supposed to be, no big deal. Occasionally giant crystalline mountains will appear in the sky; as I turn, they vanish. Again, no big deal.

Then I try to swim.

Underwater is a big gray blur. On maxed out graphics settings, it a big green blur. Can't see anything! At all!

It occurs to me I might have accidentally done this to myself with console commands; if so I don't know how, nor how to change it back!

Also underwater is supposed to have a very low view distance of about 5 feet in most cases. Its normal to be gray and blurry, the water is not clear.

There's low distance....and then there's NO distance. I've seen playthroughs on youtube where it works like it's supposed to.

There are lots of different underwater effects, from clear to muddy to near impossible to see. You should not be using youtube video as a guide, as many of thsoe feature mods which make various graphical changes which can include underwater view distance.


0o "Start" is on your windows task bar. The big flashy windows logo circle is your start menu.

Yes, but you are supposed to be able to see something underwater, right? Not nothing at all? I see nothing but a blur. Period.

I know saying start from where makes me look like a moron; I'm sorry. Been on computers since the mid 90s, you may be sure that clicking on the windows logo was the first thing I did. There is no "start" option anywhere.
