Graphics Quality

I bought New Vegas in December along the same time I bought my PS3 and loved the game. After beating it the first time around, I decided to patch the game and update my PS3 to the latest firmware version, along with installing the Caravan Pack. After doing so, I created another character and was shocked at what I saw when the game started. The quality of graphics in the game have taken a serious hit. The character models are choppy and rough, no longer smooth and crisp like they were the first time around. Every bit of graphics in the game suffer from this and I can't enjoy the game any more due to this. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, along with deleting the Caravan Pack and nothing works. I have tried just about everything short of restoring my system to factory settings and would like to fix the problem without having to do so if possible. I'm honestly not sure where or when the problem started but it's driving me crazy. If anyone could give some insight as to what caused this problem in the first place that would be greatly appreciated. A solution to this dilemma would be a blessing. I love this game and would love to continue playing it.
