GrimSkellington's Let's Play Zombie Apocalypse

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 7:42 pm

(If this is the wrong section, feel free to move it.)

Hello everyone, this is GrimSkellington, and I am running a modded Let's Play of a zombie apocalypse. I am not running the main storyline, but rather have several intended objectives I plan to achieve.

-Travel from Mojave Outpost to Novac to recruit Boone
-Cut across the Mojave interior to Goodsprings to grab supplies from the gas station (My normal hideout)
-Head north to the Gun Runners and New Vegas
-Make my way to Jacobstown (Being high in the mountains and full of super mutants, it would probably be the safest friendly place left)

Starting my journey, I will only be carrying a silenced 10mm pistol and some basic supplies.

I have the first and second video posted and footage for the next 2 or 3 filmed. I would like the topic to be a discussion of both the series (With recommendations and advice) and also how the Fallout setting would change and the characters adapt to the dead returning to life. Who would live and how would priorities and factions change.

I have several mods running (None of which I have made), though they are mostly just to add zombies, one is the DK Bullet Time to give me an edge in battling. The zombies are fast runners, so I need to be able to reliably hit them in the head when needed. I have a list of used mods below with links/descriptions.

Realistic Battle and Dynamic Combat - Reworks the damage for weapons and damage absorbtion by armor

Just to inform you, I have downloaded most of those mods you suggested and, next playthrough on my cowboy character, I intend to do something similar (activate the zombies and carve a swath through them to reach a safe haven). Thanks for the awesome mods you showed us and thanks for the idea. You da MAN!!!!!

Hey I can't find anything on that website it sends us to, but how do I actually install these mods? I just want the populated wasteland mod. I downloaded it, but where do I extract the file?

Honest to god zombies. :ahhh: :gun: Here I was thinking that the Wasteland would simply be overrun with feral Ghouls that would be called zombies. I'm a bit dubious of the other clip with the "Rise of the Fourth Reich." Doesn't sit well with me. :sadvaultboy:

I agree, the Fourth Reich videos weren't my cup of tea either, so I made my own. My only gripe with the zombies are that they explode radiation when they die...

Alright guys, I have run into a problem I would like your advice on.

I keep crashing regardless of the mods I have loaded, but even more if I have them all on. I could go back to all 9 being active (Which was the most fun, and I feel entertaining) and crash a good deal more, or I could remove some like I did in the last video (Which really makes it easier and more boring) but slightly less crashing.

Or I could savescum periodically.

Advice? Tips on decreasing crashing?

Heya,
My advice would be to either continue here or make a thread in the mod section of this forum asking for help. Provide your mod load order and specify what is the problem. Also, it won't hurt to mention and provide links to your Let's Play vids. Bashur did the same thing last time for Fallout 3 and he received a lot of help from the community. I hope you get the same help coz your vids are entertaining to watch.

In the end though, even if you get help, you still might have to remove some of the mods as they are conflicting (either in code or logically). So I understand the aim was for a unique experience but if it crashes too often, you will get put off quickly.

For some reason, these videos are amusing for me to watch. I want to shout out to you about what you're doing wrong or answer you when you ask questions of yourself, heh.

Anyways, if you're getting missing landscape it's usually fixed by making a hard save and then quitting and reloading the game completely. Having mods that corrupted your save game(s) at some point still involved with this playthru may continue to cause problems for you and lead to additional instability. You may want to start a brand new game and then use the console to add items/levels/stats to bring you back up to where you are now in your walkthru.

Btw, if you still want Boone and can't get to him for whatever reason, do this:

prid 00096bce
moveto player

player.moveto 00096bce

Do one or the other command / set of commands and it will either move Boone to your location or move you to his. You can then talk with him to hire him normally.

usually if you save and reload it will clear up those errors, that is unless you really have a incompatibility somewhere.

Awesome!
I've been getting a kick out of watching these. Even with the crashing, which is brutal I agree, it's fun to watch. Like someone else said, I find myself shouting "watch out" or something and answering you when you ask questions.
LOL!

I guess that just means you're a good commentator.
Great job. I can't wait for more.

Nice to see you are back with vids! Anyway, as someone has said, any terrain errors can be fixed with a save and reload or game restart unless its mod specific.

Thank you all with your help with the terrain problem, though I seem to have swapped that with a greater beast...

Anyhow, here is episode 9 "Crash and Burn..."

You might beable to get back in the gas station by exiting the cell and coming back. Some times that fixes the cronic crash on entry to some places.
