Something that has always bothered me in the elder scrolls: Oblivion and now Skyrim, is the fact that even if you steal a castle load of gold and gear, and get caught stealing "table bread" at the inn, the guards get mad at you and if you choose, you can pay the bounty off... somehow they're aware of ALL the stolen goods... how do they know what was stolen and what was originally yours? Shouldn't they only take away the last thing they caught you stealing? For all they know all the belongings you have on you are yours... as far as they're aware of. T_T today I lost my shoes... which apparently were stolen and I didn't realize it. ANOTHER THING regarding stealing... If I murder someone in their home outside of town... am I really stealing from them anymore? At that point it's just considered murder which has the bounty, then a free estate sale haha. If I somehow snatch the deed to their home (which nobody has), am I still stealing from them?
I feel as if the theft system in the elder scrolls games need to be overseen WAY more than it has been. I always imagined in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion that whenever I stole something, a magical red handprint where I picked it up appeared and all the guards could see it... now it's just the words "Stolen" apparently. ALSO, why can't I sell stolen goods from one town to another? Did they send a messenger ahead of time saying I stole it and the shop keepers shouldn't buy it? For the best RPG I've ever played, it certainly has little tid-bits that bother the heck outa' me...
This has been a rant on the amazing game Elder Scrolls: Skyrim,
