After reading what has been posted in this thread I noticed that neither location housed Dead Money, and are inaccessible, so I thought I would do a little digging to see what my theories on the locations can be.
Here are the locations I figure would be great locations for a starting point for DLC and I'll tell you guys why in just a bit:
-Canyon Wreckage ( mentioned by KnightDragul )
-Northern Passage ( mentioned by KnightDragul )
-This Location ( I am not the first to find it, but I noticed it on my own during my play through >_> )
-The Gate at the west end of Mojave Outpost ( Mentioned by a TON of people, seems to be a fan favorite for a starting point )
Those are the locations that I have figured would be most likely to house DLC. Why just those 4 you might ask? Because history repeats itself. Fallout 3 had 5 dlc's also, and there's the fact of the whole "You can have only this much gamer score in your game" stuff I keep hearing about that I was not aware of.
Now I will go into detail about why I believe those to be the locations for future DLC.
***DISCLAIMER***
I base my claims on fact and settings for DLCS. Obviously not being part of the Bethesda staff I have absolutely no idea what the focus of future DLC's will be, but I can give you guys an educated theory on where the settings will be, judging from the areas inaccessible on the maps and the facts given by the Fallout Bible and other sources.
I will try to reference where I get my facts, and all will be canon ( meaning they are confirmed as part of the backstory ). There might be some minor spoilers regarding Fallout in general, but nothing that will ruin the story for you, I promise Smile [:)]
LOCATIONS:
Canyon Wreckage: ***minor spoilers regarding quests in Primm***
Ok first off, let me reference a thread made by a poster here on the forums. Here is the thread, but I will sum it up. A poster by the name Im Not *** bro ( hehe ) brought up an interesting point about the Dead Money DLC. He found connections from quotes to possible DLC regarding a mysterious "courier". This is not the character you create, but a quiet character briefly mentioned by certain characters in Dead Money as 2 couriers battling each other. Obviously, that must be you and another Courier, that we know nothing about.
However, I picked up on a snippet of dialogue between the courier and Johnson Nash about your delivery order. If you catch it, he will mention another courier was offered the job before you, yet saw your name on the list, and denied the large sum of money offered for the job. He is basically implying that you and this, let's call him Courier 2 ( PLEASE NOTE I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT COURIER 2 MENTIONED IN YOUR DELIVERY NOTE ), have a past, and he, knowing the danger it would lead you, denied the job. This dialogue seems too vivid to just be random piece of information. I believe this a foreshadowing to DLC.
Now onto why the Canyon Wreckage suits this.
1) It's right next to Primm, making sense if this is truly a connection
2) It mentions that Courier 2 "wandered into the wastes". Hm, where is Primm located again? Right smack dab in the Wastes. To the north is the desert filled with dry lakes and such, and to the south is deserts occupied by Raiders and such. I might be over anolyzing this, but if he wandered in the wastes, the Canyon Wreckage is right there, isn't it?
3) The real world terrain, here seems to support the waste feel and applies to the New Vegas feel
Now, this could also lead the Grand Canyon, but I feel that's where the Northern Passage leads.
Hey wow, that was a great transition sentence! Let's continue on!
Northern Passage:
I'll just go out and say it: This is where I believe you will find Joshua Graham. If you look on the Fallout map, it is the eastern most possible DLC location I have mentioned. I find it insanely ridiculous how much Joshua Graham is mentioned throughout the Fallout universe. If you look at graffiti located throughout the wastes, it mentions "The burned man lives!" referencing him.
Why did I mention the location of the Northern Passage? Because of location location location. Caesar's legion originated in Arizona, EAST of Las Vegas. They also seem to accumulate around the Grand Canyon, where Joshua Graham was thrown into after failing Caesar. It seems like a suitable place to have a DLC regarding Graham and his Legion past.
Also, when you think of Nevada, two things come to mind to the average person ( in my opinion ) :
1) Las Vegas and gambling ( go hand and hand )
2) The Grand Canyon
It's a major landmark in Nevada, and the developers would be foolish not to hold a DLC there, regarding it's importance and backstory regarding Joshua Graham.
Now please note that I am not saying the DLC will be about solely Joshua Graham, because that would be foolish. But I do believe is that if there is a DLC mentioning Joshua Graham, there will be the Grand Canyon as the setting. Grand Canyon as setting, then Joshua Graham thrown in there ( no pun intended )
This Location: I have already made a post about this location in this thread, so yay for me I can just copy and paste
I think there will be a dlc also in the top NW corner of the map, at the ending of the road ( not leading up to Black Mountain ) because there is graffiti all over it that talks about the Burned Man, plus unlike most barriers that prevent you from leaving, it is some peculiar trucks making a wall with a huge gaping hole in the cliffs, signaling some type of road (?) leading out. Seems like a good spot to sport a road out of the Mojave.
If you look a map of Nevada here, you can the next significant town northwest of Vegas is Indian Springs. What is Indian Springs famous for you might ask?
-It has a famous fresh water springs ( hence the name ) which would be vital for the post apocalyptic community
-It houses a fully developed and functional prison
-A fair sized lake and several ranches
-It has an Air Force base called the Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Air Field.
Here is a quote about the Air Field:
"Located two and one-half miles west of Indian Springs U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Field, the Nellis Air Force Range Area F has a variety of terrain features. The features range from valley floors on the north and south side to a mountain range extending east to west. The southern edge of the range runs parallel with U.S. Highway 95 for approximately 14 miles. Access to the area is difficult because the U.S. Air Force owns a half mile strip of land between the area and the former range. This area is fenced the entire length of the strip. The northern border of the area is along the still active Nellis Air Force range and the western side borders Department of Energy property. "
Sounds like a prime military HQ for a new faction perhaps? Here's the source for the background on the base
And after all of that, it even adds this
"If you visit Indian Springs today, you will see trailers from an era gone by"
So it's a very western style town, perfect for the setting
That was easy
Gate west of Mojave Outpost:
Now here is the sugar daddy of these DLC locations. I feel after Fallout 1, 2 and other canon games have been based in it, I think it would be right to put this new engine to the test and recreate the NCR.
I think it goes without saying that there is DEFINITELY going to be dlc funneled through there. Mojave outpost serves no purpose in the game other than being the gateway to the NCR. An inaccessible gate just confirms that even more. But I have to provide facts to support this, so here we go:
According to the Fallout Wiki, the real life location of Mojave Outpost is Mountain Pass, California. It a border town between California and Nevada, and assuming the NCR stayed true to what is mentioned in game and in the past games, the NCR has roughly the same boundary lines as the current day California, making Mojave Outpost the only in game pathway to the NCR.
It would make sense to have an NCR dlc included, given the fan obsession with it ( including me ), and the background given by characters such as the Crimson Caravan, The Van Graffs, and others. Not to mention at the end of the game, if you side against the NCR, they are always driven to the Mojave Outpost. It's literally the only place in game that would lead to the NCR, so if there is a dlc going into the New California Republic ( which there will be ) I can almost guarantee that it will go through there.
Wow, that was a very very long post! Please note that those are MY opinions on where the dlc is located, not actual fact, but I believe there is a good chance of they will go through those locations and regard the characters I brought up. I did not make this thread to gloat about putting pieces together, but I am excited for the dlc, and would research this anyways, and was just wishing to share it with fellow gamers to see their opinions on my theories. Feel free to offer feedback regarding this post, I spent a very long time making it, and made it as easy to read and accurate as possible. Thanks for reading!
