They are all too short and rely too much on randomly generated quests.

If you want guilds then play Oblivion because they are way way better.

I LOVE the Dark Brotherhood questline. Full of murder, a nice plot twist, interesting characters and a satisfying ending.

I wish the College of Winterhold was a bit ... More. It felt like a dungeon-crawling guild, as opposed to a Mage's college.

The Thirves Guild is an excellent questline as well - that's one example where the radiant quests really worked well. You actually have to become master thief before 'claiming' the top job!

The companions ... I liked it, but it was too short. 2 quests and you're granted one of the highest honors in the Guild? Too short!

They are all too short, and when you are leading them, the world still acts as if you are an initiate. Certainly a downgrade from Oblivions guilds.

Also, they are too... unspecialized. I can complete the College questline with a warrior without any problem. Same goes for all the other guilds.

Theives Guild was my fav. Great characters, great missions, great result. My only gripe is that it could've been longer, and that some of the minor characters like Rune and Saphire were obviously meant for followers, but not enough time for that to become reality.
And its also the only questline to have a cutscene, to my knowlegde.
DB was quite good, but waaaaayyyy to short, and the majority of contracts were boring and unimaginative, unlike Oblivion's.
Companions was okay, but was a tad boring.
Dont really care for the College of Winterhold. A few quests and BANG,
Spoiler
you become Arch-Mage
i mean, really?

Pacing is a problem for all the guilds, due to the shortness of their questlines, but the Companions and College of Winterhold suffer the most for it. The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild both have decent pacing but also get a little rushed here and there.
