Guys Please help me out with this one, I bought skyrim today and installed it, i made a steam acount, confirmed it and patched skyrim. I already watched a lot of skyrim walkthroughs so i know whats supposed to happen but its not!
When i select ne game the game starts normal but there is no sound,(there is at the start when the bethesta logo comes up), also whrn going down the hill into this little village there is no dialogue ( i aldo activatet subtitles just to see if its just the Sound)when we arrive at the village our escort just keeps driving into the wall, so that i cant create my character. Ive tried un installing and reinstalling it again, it didnt wor, i patched all my hardware, it didnt work!

And i dont have any mods!

either your pc setup is incorrect, under power, or you have a bad installation.

The skyrim power check sets my graphics on ultra, but i already tried low-_- i tried re-installing like. 5 times!
My cd has no scratches but shoul i try downloading it over steam?

You need to tell us about your PC specifications:

-graphic card,
- amount of ram
- cpu and its speed
- os

etc.

To do that you can post a dixdiag here. Search for "dxdiag.exe" in your computer and launch it. Once this done, there is a button that reads "save...", click on it and it will create a dxdiag.txt on your destop. Open it and use copy and paste to post it here under "spoiler" tags. You'll find the "spoiler" tags in the "special bbcode" menu (icon on the left of the "font" choice when you create a message).

What for? Running skytim on low graphics doesnt work either

Strange bug though.

Did you try the usual, i.e. verify the installation in Steam?
To do that, right-click on Skyrim in your Steam library and then choose settings or options (not 100% sure, as I don't have english Steam).
You can also try just to delete your ini files (in Documents/Games/Skyrim/ or something like that) and let the game create new ones.

If nothing helps and you want to try another re-install, manually delete your entire Skyrim directory after you have used Steam to delete the local files (the directory is in /Steam directory/steamapps/common/skyrim/).

From what I read in your dxdiag, your system is okay and should be able to run Skyrim. What do you mean when you say "Running skyrim on low graphics doesn't work either"? In your first post you complained that the sound wasn't working; have things gotten worse?

Talking about your first post, you wrote "when we arrive at the village our escort just keeps driving into the wall, so that i cant create my character." What do you mean by that? You created your character before the dragon attacked Helgen.

I think what he means is that the intro bugs out completely, he can't even reach character creation and there is no sound, or at least speech, either.
He obviously tried lowering the graphic settings to see if it helps, but it didn't, but anyway the problem doesn't sound like a graphic-related problem.

It sure does sound strange, I have seen reports form other people about bugs in the intro, but never that bad. Also i would guess that a restart would fix it, but obviously not.

Do you have problems in other games? Strange behavior? Blue screens? Anything like that?
Did you test if maybe your sound is just really low volume? There's a bug where sound is very low for some people.
Did you try reinstalling your sound driver/install a newer version?

Well, he doesn't say what happens next, after they bump into the wall with the carriage. Does the game freeze, does it CTD?

You should have the newest drivers from ATI (AMD) installed before installing the game.
Yours are from early December (and are unaware of Skyrim).
Other than that, hard to say.
It's very strange isn't it? Glitches from the get-go...

The driver of my ATI card dates back to 2009 and it can stand Skyrim, so... To turn down all questions and remarks about that, I'll say that my laptop works best with the drivers that were originally installed in it than with any of the brand new ones. I know this because I tried them.

It's not just the sound. The OP's opening cutscene script is broken. This doesn't make sense to me, as we're talking about an already patched installation -and I don't remember seeing anywhere about it, being broken, even on launch day...

If everything else fails, try to download the game directly from Steam, just in case it fails to decrypt the files properly. On the other hand, I don't know of any similar case of decryption failure... this is the first time I read about such a situation.

Do you have the latest Video drivers....sound drivers....
Also I would download someone's save game and see how that plays....restart the game from the beginning and see if it will kick into character creation after you go throught he intro...

Given the driver date, I'd hazard a guess and say his drivers are likely the 11.11 set. Anything 11.11 or higher will actually do decently well to very well with Skyrim, especially on a single card set-up like the OP has. He could stand an update to 12.1 or the 12.2 previews, sure, but I don't think that's going to fix his issue. He's having sound and scripting issues. GPU drivers don't control those.

@ the OP - I suspect you have very low sound in-game, rather than no sound. I'd like to test that theory really quickly: can you go to your Sounds control panel, right click on whatever audio device you're using with Skyrim, and select "Properties?" Then go to the Enhancements tab and scroll down the list until you find something called "Loudness Equalization." Toggle it on, click Apply and then OK, and then try to run Skyrim.

If I'm right, the sound should become audible again. The trouble is Skyrim derps out hardcoe with anything other than a 5.1 sound set-up: end result is the game seeming to be muted (or in my case, I could only hear about every third word of dialogue, if that). Loudness Equalization is a bandaid fix, though--just toggle it on to test and see if your sound levels are fixed.

I'm not familiar with Creative cards, which I assume is what you have from what I can sort of your dxdiag. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1260478-sound-volume-issues-thread-1/page__view__findpost__p__19179887 to get Skyrim audible again is for Realtek onboard sound, but it may help you sort things out. Basically you'll have to set whatever audio equipment you have to 5.1, even if it's only stereo, for Skyrim to be audible properly.

Now, as for the issue of scripts not firing correctly in the intro...that's another issue all together, and I'm at a bit of a loss on that one. My only suggestions would be to try verifying the game cache with Steam (right click on Skyrim in Steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> "Verify integrity of the game cache." This will take a few minutes; just be patient.) and, if worse comes to worse, uninstalling the game and redownloading it directly from Steam's servers.

There's been a few reports of people having issues with the opening scripting, especially after patch 1.2 or 1.3...someone posted a YouTube video of the cart sliding all over kingdom come, for instance, instead of following the proper pathing. I'm really not sure what's causing that issue for some people and not others.

It's the Radiant AI -on some machines, it develops self-awareness and tries to avoid Alduin's second coming!

My dxdiag says the same thing, and I know I have DirectX 9c installed and working properly since I run several games that depend on it, Skyrim being just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I don't think that's an issue. Seems to be an ATI/AMD driver related quirk, according to some brief Googling.

Yes. But In this case. The first thing I see is a Nvidia chip set running a ATI card. With this setup. Its a good idea to refresh your drivers starting with updating windows, Directx. Checking for motherboard bio's update to chipset drivers.

I owen this motherboard that is posted. Used it to build a Q6600 8800GTS SLI rig for one of my grandkids. It should run a single ATI card just fine.

I just replaced a corrupted a steam GameOverlayRender.dill. was calling on the TESV.exe. TES.exe could not respond in the time allowed. The dill had lost its credentials. This triggerd a crash log. You get no pop up. Game just lockes up for about a min. NP get a cup of coffee and let it do its job. Looked at the steam crash log. Checked the event viewer. Could see the problim. NP easy fix. Renamed the faulting dill to .old and restarted Steam. Steam updated and replaced the dll's.

Did Skyrim beta. Then backed out in the middle of beta. In the procces the the dll,s ended up with 2 paths.
