Hadvar follower bug?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:33 pm

I just finished the Civil war for the Empire. I checked my journal and I had an outstanding quest to Talk to the Jarl of Whiterun. So I fast travel to Whiterun. I run inside the Jarl's place and I noticed that Hadvar is following me. I talk to him and it's just his random talk about who killed more, etc., no dialog comes up. Then I talk to the Jarl and he is still saying the same thing as before about the war. No new dialog and the quest pointer is still pointing at him.

So I leave and fast travel. Hadvar is still following me around. I guess I could disable him on the console (PC player) but I still have the Jarl's quest just hanging there.

Anyone have this happen before and know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Yes, it's happened to me too, just inside the gates he'd show up. I forget how he went away though, just eventually stopped?

I mean I really, really like Hadvar but his weapon-drawn crouch as he stalked me was unnerving...

I've noticed things can get buggy in Whiterun if you set about the civil war before doing any of the main quest... don't know if this applies to you, or why it would effect Hadvar though. Perhaps the Jarl wants to have that talk about Helgen and etc.

I don't recall when the Speak with the Jarl of Whiterun quest popped up on my list though. It may have been there for a while since it's a Misc. quest and I guess I should have done it before finishing the Civil War.

Battle of Whiterun you can complete it at any time the Jarl is sitting on his throne before the conclusion of the civil war.

I've had this happen several times as well. I think he just stops following you after a while and returns to Riverwood.

I had this too. I walked back to Riverwood, he followed and stayed there.
