[REQ] Hair pack?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:05 am

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone was already working on a hair pack for Fallout New Vegas or was planning to. For Fallout 3 I've seen some awesome hairstyle mods (my favorite being the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=749) and as such I hope that someone is willing to create such a mod for Fallout New Vegas :)

Greetz & thanks!

There are some issues with custom hairs that need to be sorted out first.

I've fiddled with it to the best of my abilities and couldn't get it to work. It's like the EGM files (responsible for making hairs distort according to FaceGen) aren't loading or something...

Maybe Throttlekitty or Scanti can figure it out...

I put together something for my own personal use, but might as well share it. It's not a complete pack. Just a few of my favorites from CoolHair.
First thing I did, after starting a new game and was greeted by the normal bethesda mutant faces. :P

One hair has a small artifact on the side, otherwise they are all working perfectly. Feel free to use this to carry you over until someone releases a real package.

link doesn't work :(

is it as simple as copying the meshes/textures into their data folers? Or do you need a whole mod thing to load into Fomm/startup?

Don't use PlanetFallout. Their higher-ups have no regard at all for mod use permissions or credits when they make "compiliation packs". It's happened before with Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls 4. The general notion of disregarding permissions or credits is highly irksome, but it also makes support a pain in the butt since it's somewhere beyond our control.

Checked that out and found something I liked, but wish I knew how to get rid of the glossy sheen on all the hairs :\ I don't think it fits at all.

Yeah, I think a texturer has to modify some layer in order to reduce the level of 'plastic shine'. I'm no texture artist though, so I don't have a clue how that can be done :P

Plastic is definitely the right word. It makes it look...less like hair. It doesn't really render right on the model. The mod I used in FO3 didn't have it. :(

If you do not like the shiny hair, you can install the alternate textures from Ashara, you can find them here:
