i'll be the first to admit that i am not a halo zealot  even though i have played the first 3 games.it certainly isn't the best game series of all time as far as i'm concerned (that would be the last ninja series on commodore 64 :toughninja: :hubbahubba: .have just got the original game for my pc yesterday though and must admit to really enjoying replaying it (especially when you first crash land on the ringworld, and see it for the first time :woot: although i am not looking forward to having to go through all those corridors again  p.s i love meleeing all the bad guys

Halo CE was and still is a fantastic game. Sadly, for me at least, the series went quickly down hill. They started to focus on MP and left the SP in the dust. Such a shame really, I think they could have done so much with the SP had they really wanted to.

i completely disagree, multiplayer was the best aspect of halo imo. It had a good story but an even greater multiplayer experience, that is why I and many others play fps games (multiplayer).
the inclusion of mapmaking made it even better.

Thats the exact reason I don't like it, everything went into the MP. IMO it should have focused on the SP. The fact that you say MP is the best aspect of the series proves my point.

That's not what he was saying. What he's saying is that it's a shame that the game took on Multiplayer and left Single Player behind, slapping in a few maps and saying 'GOOD TO GO!' It's a common trend in FPS to make half arsed storys, but focus mostly on MP and MP DLC.

I liked the first halo. About average for a shooter. The regen shield was an interesting mechanic, and there was a little bit of difficulty to it. Level design unfortunately greatly suffered after you met Guilty Spark, and the story was...ok.

But I despise that it set a trend for regenerating health and the 2-weapon system.

Give me run and guns like Doom, Duke 3D, and Timesplitters(Best MP console shooter) any day of the week.

I agree timesplitters is just amazing :)

fps games need to have extensive + unique characters in multiplayer like that (if you cant create your own) TS did a great job with theirs imo how you have to unlock them and such.

My laptop that has an integrated graphics card and runs it fine. So really, if you have a graphics card: it'll run.

I <3 the Halo series - the only FPS Halo game I haven't yet played is Reach, since it won't go down in price apparently.

I love the Halo books as well - they really flesh out the universe for me and provide a lot of rich detail that sometimes gets lost while playing the games (or is not included at all).

I have played every halo game so far, and I have enjoyed all of them. I definetly don't think it's the greatest game series ever, but I do think it's the best Xbox exclusive series.

I had more fun playing LAN with 2 Xbox's, 2 big screen tv's, and 7 other friends then I ever did playing multi online in H2 and H3. H2 multi was a nightmare and H3 was just more of the same as far as game play and looks. Played very little of Reach multi and thought that the jet packs ruined the game imo. Now that there is an anniversary remake of combat evolved and they are brining back the pistol with some of the old maps and upgrading the single player graphics....oh yeah I'm all in.

A really good documentary on Bungie. I can't wait to see what their new IP is.
