MY hardcoe game rules - optionstipscommands

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:35 am

if i post it on the wrong section move it

first these are my settings and i'm just sharing it w/ you

since master is unrealistic i'll advice you to play in expert instead

now lets begin: "MY rules"

1. disable the crosshair
2. disable the floating markers

both can be found in the options of skyrim

3. compass OFF - open theSkyrimPrefs.ini file and look for "bShowCompass=1" change 1 to 0

on the console type command (press ~) are enclosed by " " and ofcourse its not included as you type the command duh!

4. hp crawl - "player.setav healrate 0.3" (my friendly RPG regen rate) now for the really hardcoe change the value to .1 or 0
5. mana crawl - "player.setav magickarate .5"
6. stamina crawl - "player.setav staminarate .7"
7. in game time - "set timescale to # 10"

8. if you know how to disable the "eye cursor" when in sneak mode do it to. and post it here, thank you verymuch

-Rock n' Roll \m/

=== edited: i tested the old values and found out that its too noob friendly for me, so here's the "real" one. ===

5. hp crawl - "player.setav healrate 0.1" (my friendly RPG regen rate) now for the really hardcoe change the value to 0.05 (i use this) or 0
6. mana crawl - "player.setav magickarate .4"
7. stamina crawl - "player.setav staminarate .5"
8. in game time - "set timescale to # 10" (haven't tested it fully yet need a few days to do this)

read/listen to what the NPC tells you, and write it down. and besides there's a spell and i won't tell you what it is because you need to learn how to find out things for your self.

and instead of collecting quest and doing it later, try focusing on one. now go and explore your new world. just remember don't let them find you ;)

hmm i turned health regen off by using -7 i think -makes is much more enjoyable and makes food and potions useful

there is a mod which turns off that eye but im not sure wat it is

my tips..

never fast travel - only use carriages if u have to

/if your character isnt a mage dont use magic

reduce your carryweight to 150 using console -even thats probably too much - 100 might be more realistic

try dead is dead - i cant do it but try it if ya want - if u die u ahve start a new character

and theres probably more that i cant think of right now as i stopped playing about 2 months ago --waiting for CK----

anyhoo my tips have fun

If you add master difficutly + dead is dead and no companion, we would have "grandmaster" difficulty

like i said on the top post; "its my hardcoe" not yours, but still i'm figuring out how fast 4hrs is in game, i wanted to do 4hrs = 24hrs of skyrim day. if anyone knows this pls say so. so i can finish my "game rules"

edited message below:
can you pc guys add skill degradation and differing rates for unused skills?

1. use 5 or less skills as major skills (like morrowind)
2. for character class/theme use the guide below - still i'll give you freedom on what spells you use.

Class
- if warrior/archer/ranger/thief pls do not use anything that includes magic
- if wiz/sor do not use weapons, or limit yourself in single dagger combat
- paladins/shaman = no range combat, limited magic dicipline & spells
- special/other = stick to your theme and use Morrowind as your guide

3. still need help on how skills fits your class? use morrowind class and skill system as your guide or ADnD rules, both are good guides.
4. can't control your self in using other skills? turn back now, this is not your kind of "hardcoe" game. just remember there is no "tgm" in real life.

finally i found something that's usefull for this "hardcoe" type of play

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=285 - this removes the cursor when sneaking so you don't actually know what's going on around you if you turn your back on them

24 / 4= 6, so set timescale to # 6. A very nice value I might add, not too fast, not too slow, just right.

Yea actually there are many times where clairvoyance makes finding your way EASIER than using the quest location marker. So saying its hard core to disable the quest location marker is really debatable.

well yeah but try not using the spell, and instead find your way manually. i am creating a mage char but i still won't use that spell. and instead of using the "m" key for map i use a mod that you actually pull out your map from the inventory, or just simply pull out your game box and look at the map given by bethesda.

how you play the game is actually all about controlling your self "not" to do this or that for your real "RPG" experience via skyrim.

Well sir OP I use a similar play style to yours. Heal rate 0.1 does the trick. I use alchemy and foods to replenish. Frankly, I keep stamina at default since I think that stamina is more "realistic" to replenish" quite fast, My character uses no magic or crafting/enchanting besides alchemy and I restrict myself to use a max of 1-2 potions per battle. Only armor that I consider in character is used and in my case that is various forms of fur armor (not the upgraded sort). Initially it worked well and I played on expert but now that I am lvl 37 I get spanked much more often so I changed to adept. I love the added challenge and I am often forced to plan battles and make use of companions, which I enjoy.

There are various mods to add to the immersion e.g. more potent foodstuffs, restricted travel, speed adjustments etc. I can strongly recommend these to anyone interested to try out the experience.

2. disable the floating markers

What are "floating markers"? I saw that in the options and disabled it but did not notice any difference.

Floating markers = quest markers that appear directly in your 3D view.

Horrible features, I avoid them whenever I can.

one of the greatest abilities in fallout3 is the no hub option.

combined with dead is dead means almost a perfect game.

Thanks. I hardly ever play with quests activated so I guess that is why I could not tell a difference whether "floating markers" were disabled or not.
