"hardcoe" mode: Have you tried this?

Post » Sun Jul 08, 2012 4:22 pm

So, recently I decided to play what I call hardcoe mode. Master difficulty of course with only goal never die. I was doing fine until I reached the Bleak falls Barrow and died, not by Draugr or Bandits, but by a trap. I didn't see it, or I didn't think it would kill me instantly. Such a tragic death for mankind's only hope to defeat Alduin.

I don't find such playstyles in Bethesda games fun at all. Their system for increased difficulty - buffing enemies and gimping the player - is cheap and lazy. If I want a challenging experience I'll play a game which has been designed to be intrinsically challenging through its mechanics and enemy AI, and not by turning enemies into tanks and the player into a wimp.

Yes, many have tried this.

This thread is dedicated to the type of game play you seem to be referring to. I haven't tried it myself, but I may in the future.
