Play what you like. I personally don't have hundreds of hours to put into a character, die, then restart all over again. Most of you will come to understand this when you work full time, are in college, and maintain a healthy relationship with someone of this opposite gender (This is in no way a slight against anyone posting on this topic, I'm just assuming most of you guys are of the younger age and do not have prior obligations to uphold). My brother and I co-share the account as well, so I'd rather not have to kill him over a mistake he made

.
Well, I am a husband and a father of two, with a "real" job. Given, I'm a teacher so it does provide for some gaming time right now but I have a very busy life. My personal preference in these types of games it to be immersed in the game as much as possible. For me to do that, and for me to feel as close to the character as possible (as in, I don't want to die in real life and that translates to my character) I am very cautious. I think about everything I'm doing. Running around recklessly and not worrying about getting killed is not a fun way to play in my opinion.
But to each their own. Everyone plays the way they want to, and this is the way that makes the game the most fun to me. I may change, eventually.
