Has anyone been mauled by 5 deathclaws

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:52 am

I was walking away from Black mountain after finding good weapons off the mutants but i went the wrong way and found myself near Quary Junction i saw 1 deathclaw and i decided to kill it but then another 1 popped out of nowhere but that wasn't a problem cause i had Rex and Cass plus a anti material rifle then came 3 more bastards i should have ran but i wanted to kill some cuz they scared the hell outta me but then both my companoins fainted so i started running to find Neil and i thought that i would be good with about 90 stimpacks with me but they killed me in seconds. this was really annoying i am on level 25 and i had a powerful rifle and 2 companions but still die, i think deathclaws should be toned down a bit they are really fast they can kill u with 2-3 hits and they are annoying to kill :brokencomputer:

They are called DEATHclaws for a reason.

A group of DCs will ace you no matter your level, weapons or armor if you get mobbed. That's what makes them awesome.

The only possible way I've seen a person get away from getting mobbed by DeathClaws is to use a RiotShotgun with beanbag rounds. Even though its probably a better idea just to run afterwards.

It's scenarios like this that makes me miss the dartgun from Fallout 3, just shoot a dart into anywhere on the deathclaw's body and their legs get crippled rendering them unable to chase with their horrifying speed.

I'm used to the difficultness (is that even a word?) of Deathclaws as I had Mart's Mutant Mod for Fallout 3 and it had Deathclaw Matriachs. They probably weren't as tough as the two big ones in Quarry Junction, but I still ran away from them rather than try and take them on alone.

I sat up on a ridge on the side of quarry junction and sniped them.
Took a long time, and then the game froze when i went to fast travel back to sloan to let them know :/

I saw a Deathclaw lurking around one of the eastern Railway stations, shot at it  , then got run down by another group of 'em hiding around a corner.

I never stood a chance.

I've encountered Deathclaws in groups of 3 or more more than I've encountered single ones. They're a pack animal in this game...like every other animal/abomination.

I think the most Deathclaws I had chasing me was 3 I just pulled out the Sniper Rifle target one in Vats for a head Shot then shot repeatedly with the Sniper Rifle for the other 2.

The Tesla-Beaton prototype worked well against them. If anyone is trying to get the Remnant Power Armor I'll tell you right now, prepare well.

I try to snipe death claws, that's about the only way to take out more than 1 reliably that I've found. Pre-patch the Mysterious Magnum with SWC rounds if you had 100 guns skill could take one down in four shots if all to the head.

Yeah, that happened to me too.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get into Quarry Junction without being killed, because my sneak is not great :/

Your character is hot ;)

But let's be realistic. We both know you didn't get away, the thing was right on your ass. And if you out ran it, you a good one. A real good one lol.

I say we call it a gaggle. A gaggle of deathclaws.
I tend to stay as far away from deathclaws has physically possible.

I think a murder of deathclaws is more apt.

It's great they've been made genuinely dangerous again.

No, I cleared the promontory and now have a deathclaw skin couch, lampshade, jacket, boots, belt, hat...etc.

I'm with everyone else, though. I'm glad they're very difficult again.

I love that you're being chased by a flaming deathclaw, lol.
