Has the new patch fixed Veronica's leveling?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:56 am

It seems that Veronica does not level up with the courier, and has not since launch. Now, this recent patch was supposed to fix "companion" problems, so does anyone know if the improper scaling of Veronica with the courier is rectified?

I took her with me to black mountain at level 17 and she downed two super mutant masters in 3 seconds flat, so I'd say yes.

You can use the console to check her stats.
Or open up the NewVegas.esm in the GECK and check her character tab. If she's still static, or if her level is scaled.

Frankly, I never noticed she was weaker. Even before the patch.
She was my companion of choice and never once went down. I play on hardcoe, too.

But I give my companions all the best gear I find. She had Recon Armor, the unique Plasma Rifle, and the Paladin Toaster fist.

Veronica's always been a beast combatant, with a relatively weak perk. Raul, on the other hand, is relatively weak in combat, but has a great perk. Everybody else seems in between for me, with a pretty useful perk and pretty decent combat skills. Cass is great against Cazadors if you give her the damage perk, Boone's great for patrolling the wastes, etc.

I don't have my gaming computer available, so I'm just wondering. Last time I used her, though, she went down in a couple of cazador hits while wearing Brotherhood T-51b armor, and I've heard multiple reports of her being basically stuck at level 12.

I took a look in the GECK, she's still level 12.
The other followers stop leveling at Lv.20, too. They don't go on to Lv.30 with the Courier.
Probably for the best. :P

Okay, I lol'd pretty hard. And honestly, I'm not surprised. All of the snipers at McCarran are pissed because she took down Nelphi in one hit. With default equipment.

It seems a little arbitrary to have her plateau at 12 when everyone else stops at 20.

huh.

I didn't know companions gained experience themselves, anyway to see this in game ?

I've been kicking along with Veronica for a few quests and suddenly after I gave her some combat armour she seems indestructible... also she's dropping everything in less than 3 punches it seems ! I've barely got a shot off before she's cleaned up all the bad guys.

Suddenly hard-core has become a cake-walk sooo I'm ganna take her armour down a notch (or two, maybe three...) and give her a ranged weapon. Just feels wrong though that I need to handi-cap her so it remains a challenge :/

But I'm a big fan of taking on companions so I'd rather keep her along side.

Thing is pre-patch when she had reinforced leather armour she took significantly more damage and seemed to need a fair few punches to drop tougher enemies ? Either a huge discrepancy between armour types or maybe she's now lvld up thanks to the patch... punch power suggests that she's gotten stronger.

hmm. Can you do anything about that in console on the PC? Like adjust her stats to match yours as you level up, f'rinstance?

I'm just starting with her, and I think my character adores her. When ask what her strengths are, and she says, "I really like punching things." I thought: really?
That doesn't sound all that great... but then she ran into the middle of 4 raiders with guns and just went bang, bang, bang, bang and walked back to me smiling while I was still screwing around reloading. :o

Actually, maybe she is a bit overpowered.

I don't know if the new patch does anything to her or not.

I can say that I took Veronica all the way to the end of the game (and she survived) before the patch so she wasn't ever a total weakling. I gave her power armor and kept her healed up during fights.

Confirmed that the patch did nothing to correct Veronica's lvling. -____-
I know because I have the patch and I checked on GECK.

If you are on the PC there is a mod that fixes it though.

As to why most people don't really notice that she is nerfed its prob because from the start she is already 103 (yes she is over 100) unarmed skill. However at very late lvls (around 20+) you will begin to notice that she dies/falls unconscious quite easily if she gets mobbed even if she is wearing T51b power armor. To be honest I found it very frustrating until I found the mod above that fixes it. She now kicks deathclaw [censored] like she is supposed to with Pushy :celebration:

I hope so. I think I'm around about level 19 and I'm giving up on her, she gets killed too easily. I've got her in fully repaired Van Graff combat armour but I still worry about getting her into combat.

Plus she insists on rushing in with her power fist and getting in the way of my shot, even if I tell her to go ranged. I'd swap her but I can't bring myself to leave her there at that trading post, digging in the dirt for bits of scrap metal, as she puts it. I think I might just take her back to the BS bunker and just have her wait... pretend I've sent her home kind of thing.

Tell her to wait at the lucky 38? She can order room service!

I will when I actually get that far. I've got so much to do I'm putting off going into the strip. I just get too overwhelmed with all the quests backing up.

I like how she wanders around the apartement and eats and sleeps. I wish I could get her to wear some sixy sleepwear.
