I hate mini games

Post » Thu Oct 06, 2011 8:26 pm

I am just curious... am I the only one that dreads the racing? IT's not just in RAge, but all games that are "shooters" and try to incorporate some sort of racing or something similar. I DREAD it. I can't stand being told "you can't progress until you complete this race." If you make a shooter, make it a shooter! Don't throw in all these silly arcade racing games!

Does anyone REALLY look forward to the driving aspect of this???

I love the driving. It kept me occupied the majority of the night and shooting enemies is super fun. It's also crazy what the upgrades do. I mean, I though I was flying with the Rat Rod...

I have to agree. I can't say that I've ever owned a racing game. It's a shame that a good experience can be bogged down my... shall I say useless add-ons.

The racing is only mandatory a couple of times, and running around shooting things is pretty easy and fun. It reminds me more of Mario Kart with rocket launchers than a real racing game.

It makes getting from point A to B much more interesting. And honestly if you're living in a post apocalyptic desert with bandits, wouldn't you rather drive than walk through a barren desert?

Yup, there was a game similar to this in that it had Dune Buggies as a means of transport and it was ton of fun. I don't think this game has a buggy that jumps like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQhTDVyxJQQ

I spend most of my time racing actually, it's really well done (IMHO OF COURSE). I also have liked all of the little gambling mini-games so far as well.

I wouldn't have bought this game if all it was was an FPS. The FPS aspect is certainly well done, but I tire easily of the same thing over and over again. That's why I bought Rage, because it wasn't just another generic shooter.

I play the dice game a lot with the sheriff and the mutants. I've made about a thousand bucks playing it so far. Never get the x10 bonus though.

Same, I've got the x4 bonus a fair bit but not x10 yet.

As to driving I wish the controls were more like Borderlands, I find having to use WASD a bit awkward. Considering how agile and fast the enemies are it's a bit of a pain. I haven't had too many problems with the racing so far but I've only done series 1 and a most of series 2 with the sponsored race thrown in. I've only had to replay a few of the races to get 1st so far, about a third of them. In any case I've always got it on the second try.

As far as I know, the only race you have to do is the sponsored one and maybe one a bit later in the game.

I wish it was more like borderlands as well. In fact every time I start driving I do it the wrong way and it take me a few seconds to correct myself. I invested well over 72 hours in Borderlands...

I got the 10x bonus! woot!

Also, as mentioned above.. the Magic-esque card game is very addicting. I think I honestly play through the game now just to collect new cards to put in my deck. I haven't even got enough cards to try out medium and I'm through dead city with about 8 weapons including fists and double barrel shotgun.

Lame! I'm jealous.

I haven't tried the card game yet. I'm going to wait until I find more cards. I only have 2 so far (plus the starter deck).
