Do I have every shout? Do I have every shout?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:11 am

Damn, doubled the title.

I have these: Animal Allegiance, Aura Whisper, Become Etherial, Call Dragon, Call of Valor, Clear Skies, Disarm, Dismay, Dragonrend, Elemental Fury, Fire Breath, Frost Breath, Ice Form, Kynes Peace, Marked for Death, Slow Time, Storm Call, Throw Voice, Unrelenting Force, Whirlwind Sprint.

Animal Allegiance and Ice Form are the only ones each with 2 parts. (Animal/Allegiance), (Ice/Flesh).

Does that mean I have 2 remaining word walls to find? Not that either of those shouts are particularly useful, but for the sake of trying to complete all word walls.

There are a total of 20 different shouts in Skyrim, and if I recall correctly each one has three different words too it. So there should be 60 different word walls.

To get the achievement you don't need to unlock all three parts of each shout - you just need at least one word from each. (At least, I got the achievement without getting all three parts).
Some walls are quest-locked so without the TG and DB you can't complete all shouts, for the record.

I haven't been getting any achievements. I wonder if that's for console players. Like, I read where someone got an achievement at 100K gold, but I never got that.
I'm not looking for achievements though, I just like discovering new word walls, and it looks like I've done 58 and have 2 left to find. I already have all 20 shouts, all fully unlocked except 2 of them.

Nah. Throw Voice you learn all 3 at one time and some have no walls at all because they are taught by the Greybeards or others.

You don't have to join the DB for the one - I got it when I destroyed them on my 1st character, but TG you do have to join.

You can only earn Achievements on the Xbox 360 and I believe it's trophies that you earn on the PS3.

Yeah. And it's a weird system of Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. I think the "Gold" ones are the equivalent of Xbox 360 Achievements. I've had a PS3 for years and don't really understand the system fully.

Heh, I forgot I got some shouts all at once so of course I didn't do 58 walls as I said earlier. I've been around skyrim so much I can't believe there'd be any places left with word walls that I haven't already been to.
I'll have to go back to Arngeir and see if he has anything else for me.

No kidding. I'm afraid it's just like in WoW though - no way to disable.... Oh, maybe someone will do a mod!? That would be LOVELY.

I think they're kinda' cool, but I don't live for them. Most of the 'kids' like them because it shows how hardcoe of a gamer they are. In reality it has an inverse relationship to what is perceived (ie the more Trophies/Achievements you have in a game the less cool you are in reality ). Although, I have to admit I've actually pursued 2 Achievements in my life: The Nutcracker in Fable II and the My Brother is an Italian Plumber in Borderlands. :P

Only thing I was interested in Borderlands was the music. The machine I had at the time refused to let me play the game. The music though.... YUM. I lost my bits I had from some site or the other in one of my hdd crashes over time, which is sad.

Yeah, it has some interesting music. The Robby Shankaresque music in Skag Gulley is a bit eerie though. All time favorite music though goes to Fallout 3 GNR. :o

Music and "Grey box thingy"? I've never seen them.

IIRC you can turn them off by going into "Steam" -> "Settings", click the "In-Game" tab, then uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game". That's if I remember right, which is shaky on the best of days... :whistling:

To get all of them you need to go into areas closed unless you're doing some faction quest.

So, it's not possible to get all of them in a single playthrough unless you're aiming at a master-of-all character

Well I could but it's an x-box Acheivment thing. Some of the game's I played it didn't really bother me, but for some reason with Skyrim it drives me nutty. Could be because it happens at the oddest of times. Fighting two snow bear's up the road from Windhelm... Move to get a better shot with bow, Music, flashing green light, grey box... WTF...I just had to look, ruined my aim. Think it said something about explorer acheivement.

I'm against the fact that you have to pick a side & partake in the civil war to get access to certain areas. It's ridiculous and against the concept of an open world game to make something dependant on picking a side in a fight. I get that they're trying to encourage playing through again but when you've already racked up a couple hundred hours of playtime as a neutral character, it's disappointing to learn that you have to start over if you want to acquire all the shouts. Sadly I can't say how many hours I've played because the game stats don't show total hours played.

We get achievements on the PC through Steam.

Edit: Well I was ninja'd a few posts above ;p.

I have 38 words unlocked.

I don't know.... and I personally don't care if anyone else knows about what I do (or don't do) in games. But if you do care (though I think I "felt" some sarcasm there....) then I guess you'd have to put up a blog to chart your achievements, trophies, game completions and general all 'round wonderfulness?

It was actually all sarcasm. I forgot the internet's not good for judging tone unless you a LOT of f-bombs. But yeah, it's neat I guess, gives you something to go for if you're otherwise done with a game, but life would go on without them.
