I have issues

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:01 pm

I started my 3rd character in as many weeks last night. It seems I just can't decide how I want to play each character. I started a Breton 1HSword/Shield warrior last week. I like to roleplay a lot on my character, and made a lot of 'honorable' choices, helped people, did the Companions quests, etc. Then I decided I would do Thieves Guild and DB quests, because they are part of the game. It is strange, but as soon as I took the first DB contract, I walked out of the DB cave and was thinking 'This is not what my character would do.' It totally changed the way I looked at my character and I immediately wanted to start a new one that is more of a bad guy.

Anyway, I started a Redguard 1H sword/shield warrior who is bad, and I plan to play him completely different from my other guy.

This is part of what makes this game 'potentially' be so much fun. You can play your character in so many different ways.

I made a char for each race and all are rp'd different. See forum link below. This kind if gameplay saved the game for me. I used to play only as a dunmer abd a thief/assassin. Thanks to the great people on this forum I now enjoy this game so much more.

I must say, playing an evil character after many good and neutral characters is a whole lot of fun. The dark side rocks. :chaos:

I've made a bunch of characters as new ideas pop into my head, so yeah, I have issues too! Still trying to finish the MQ (haven't yet) with my pure mage. But I keep wanting to try different things including some I've already tried. Just hard to go back to another character for me as I get set into the style of play I'm using currently and hard to switch with a character that is already has another style. Easier for me to start fresh.

For me the fighting style is at least the same. I love 1h/shield warriors. So much fun to me. My previous wore heavy armor, but this guy will wear light and will be a quicker, more agile fighter (much like the Dothraki in Game of Thrones).

It's just I want them to be bad or good. It is weird to do a bunch of 'honorable' deeds and then switch it up and start murdering people.

Just one piece of advice, from something you said in your first post:

You should never feel like you have to do something just because it's in the game. The game is designed so that you never have to do the main quest if you don't feel like it. If your character wouldn't join the Thieves' Guild, don't. Make another character who does.

This. You can make a character who does no quests (maybe a few misc ones), make up your own quests too.

My problem is I want to play them ALL! But I only do guilds/quests that are appropriate for each character's personality. I never do EVERYTHING with one character. I love playing all the different types!

Iv joined all the guilds and generally kill anyone I can get away with killing. Sometimes I give a farmer some gold other times I stab him in the back and fill a soul gem. They could of I suppose offered two different paths such as If you join the DB you cant join the Companions and so on. Personally I would have liked that but to many would complain about restricted freedom ,and being forced to play though more than once when they didn't want to.

I'm just starting in Skyrim but Niamh in Skyrim is basically a more chaotic version of who she is in Oblivion with one single story thread connecting the two places...

I hear you ! I make characters to do certain questlines. I really take my time so with the bunch of characters I have now, Skyrim will be a long time running for me. I find the evil styles I burn out on pretty quicky so I play then infrequently heck I was still finishing up Oblivion stuff when Skyrim came out.
