Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:48 pm

An argorian, a khajiht(hopefully I spelled this right) and a redguard but I have played as the rest. For some reason I dont find these races appealing but I would like to try these races out. So im wondering should I? Like any game play diffrence or anything?

Argonians and Khajiit are good for stealth type characters since they start out with higher skill levels in sneak. Both have bonuses to unarmed attacks and Argonians can breathe undewater (as well as resist diseases a little better.) Redguards can resist poison somewhat, have skill levels in combat and certain magic types, and just look cool.

Really there isn't much difference. NPCs will address you differently but don't treat you differently as far as I know. I do think that the height of characters affects movement (and therefore sprinting/walking speed).

Try here for a look at the differences: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Races

Imo an argonian is a good race for players doing a pure non magic playthrough because of the hist healing power, Plus the 50% resistance to disease makes him a valuble member for the dawnguard.

A huge benifit to argonians is that they get a free bed and a chest at the windhelm docks in the argonian quaters. Not sure ifthe chest is safe, But you can sleep in the bed, if your any other race it counts as you tresspassing the area.

When I play Khajit I always feel sneakier and they are really good for thieves. Argonians are assassins in lore (shadowscales).

I have played a different race/nationality each time I made a new character, two for Oblivion (although I think I created a third for the PC) and so far two for Skyrim. I am bound to play at least once as everything eventually. I stuffed up that Civil War questline again, so I can see a new character being created shortly. One that enthusiastically does the main quests and likes civil wars, probably an Orc.

I haven't played Orc, Redguard, or Imperial. Not sure why I guess I just like the other races more.

I've pretty much only been a Khajiit in every Elder Scrolls game I've played. Can't really bring myself to play any of the other races.

Don't khajit's have some kind of claw attack?
They have a nice damage bonus in hand-to-hand combat and swipe at their enemies with a slashing motion. They're really fun to play as unarmed brawlers.

I played as an Argonian once back in Morrowind, but it didn't last long. I wanted to make a living as a pearl harvester and their ability to breath underwater played nicely into it. Beast races really are just not my thing, but what really turns me off are the furry people who take things way too far.

In Skyrim I haven't played as a Bosmer, Altmer, Argonian or Khajiit yet. Yet being the keyword, I will try them all sooner or later.

There is no real difference gameplay wise to play any race within the game so it really does not matter. Mainly your choice is just for aesthetics and that is pretty much it. Try one see if you like them your obviously thinking about gettin g on here and asking everybody if you should. I say go for it try all threw, I have not made an Imperial yet because I had other choices on who I wished to make roleplaying wise and they just did not fit in and I've been playing since Morrowind and that's commitment to my roleplaying story I will tell you that. But anyways yes its great to try new things.

I've never played any of the elf races.
Tried a Dark Elf once in Daggerfall... made it out of the first dungeon, deleted, and never tried again.

Never played a Redguard, Orc or Khajit. Their background just doesn't interest me. I did play a Bosmer and Nord once in Morrowind but never again. I stick with Altmer and Dunmer now.

I've never played as an Imperial, Khajiit or Argonian. I find the Imperials boring and in Oblivion I got put off by the Argonian and Khajiit NPCs (weird and annoying voices) and have never played as them because of that.

I play a different race for every character. I was a bosmer in Morrowind, a Breton in Oblivion, and now I'm a Nord and going for an altmer and Khajiit in Skyrim. Just trying them all out, and so far they all were pretty fun. I'm kinda doubtful about an Imperial 'though, I dunno, they just look lame to me. :P

I played Nord in Morrowind and Oblivion, but I opted for an Orc this time round and am loving it. Orcs rock. I've not played as anything else.

Argonians make good mages, and great battle mages.

Restoration buff, Alteration buff. Plus the fact that the regeneration perk buffs Hist Skin.

I've always wanted to play an Orc, but I can't bring myself to play something other than Argonian for long. Just doesn't feel right for some reason.

Wouldn't exactly call that a huge benefit with the all the free beds laying around in the wilderness.

Whats this players anonymous? lol

I have never played as an orc, EVER.

I have never diverted from my play path, its always Helgen -> Riverwood -> Whiterun -> Ivarstead -> Dat mountain -> riften

I have never ignored the Giant and Companions fighting, I always go to kill it.

I have never been struck with an arrow in the knee.

I've never played as anything other than Breton or Nord. In Skyrim I've only played as Nord.

Aside from the resistances and racial abilities, there really is no difference between the races. They can all be whatever you want them to be, and the minor skill bonuses they each start with catch up so quick it's not even worth thinking about when choosing race. It's all about which race feels better on you, which type you like to role play. Personally I find Argonians completely ridiculous. They seem like the product of a combined brain fart and lots of weed on a late night at the Beth offices, and Khajits aren't far behind on that scale. They do have a bit more redeeming qualities and don't seem as ridiculous to me, though.
