^ This I have a pretty high end rig and I reinstall after each patch always seems like something gets messed up after one.
@OP Def take the easier steps first...we are just talking about a CTD no error right? not a hang or a system reboot?
If you do decide to uninstall make sure you back up your saves and delete everything from the steam/steamapps/common/skyrim folder including the skyrim folder itself as well as the mygames/skyrim folder. Then I use CCleaner to remove anything that was left behind after that in regards to Skyrim in the Registry tab. Reinstall and this may just be me being paranoid but I make sure that while the game is installing that nothing else is using my bandwidth besides the average web surfing. IE no downloading anything else while its doing on.
Well it's "just" a CTD - it's completely random, but always - (so far) - outside.
I only actually installed the game a couple of days ago so it has had no patching since then.
I have upgraded my GPU drivers.
In terms of game install I am running it from an SSD card, via junction, but I can't see that that would make much difference?
I've checked through the suggested thread and I'm pretty in the curve with a lot of other folk who have replied to it.
As I say - I'm going to use a lower clock speed for the GPU and also adjust shadows. I'm thinking of using some blank music files as well because I do recall from Oblivion that disabling music improved stability. Since you can't do that in Skyrim I'm thinking that maybe blank files will help.
