Have a question about a smuggle quest

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:19 pm

i'm on a quest where I give some gear to a guy to smuggle.

My question is: Do I need to give him my armor and whatnot too? Or is it just weapons that I can't bring with me?

I guess what I'm really asking is if I can just give him everything in my inventory. But what about quest items that I carry?

If that's diplomatic immunity then i believe you just give him the stuff you want to use later delphine takes the rest till you get out, make a backup save if that's it as i've heard that part can be quite buggy. also i don't think quest items will matter the game usually ignores them.

Don't forget to trade him things like Lockpicks and Potions if you think you'll need them. Also save right after you give him your stuff because I've had dragons attack when I went to meet Delphine at the stables and had no fighting stuff so I had to go to one of my houses to get secondary gear. :o

Yeah. In this case the details you DON'T think about can make this quest an unmentionable unmentionable. Seriously.

Oh, I wasn't trying to correct you - I was just elaborating in case OP interpreted "later" as after the quest. I figured you were trying to be vague so as not to spoil too much, but I spoiled it so it would be clear where he would need it. I forgot to trade Lockpicks once and had to restart from an earlier save. <_<

You can simply give him everything in your inventory, doesn't make a difference.

I did have a dragon attack at the stables, though. I hid in the bushes like a small child.

Malborn somhow manages to smuggle in whatever you gave him, even if you dumped everything with him; you report to Delphine in your undergarments, and poor Malborn has to figure out how to get a full set of armor, a plethora of potions, and various weapons inside nonchalantly.

If you're trying to be more realistic, I'd recommend some potions, lockpicks, and perhaps further potions or scrolls to help you sneak or fight. If you want to bring a weapon, bring something small, like a dagger.

If you have the Amulet of Articulation, it can help in the party scene, but I think to actually have it at that point, you'll need to drop it on the ground outside the embassy and pick it up when you get there.

So the limited carrying amount was a lie? :o I gave him very little (bare essentials) on my playthroughs.

Technically, Malborn has the normal carrying capacity of any other NPC you can trade with, and so can carry up to 300 units of weight.

Story-wise, you are trying to be inconspicuous -- I really doubt he'd tell you "Oh, no biggie. Just give me everything you've got! I'll get it in somehow."

Ir's actually kind of fun to not have a ton of equipment with you; more challenging. And you can also use what you loot off Elenwen's guards or steal from her.

I gave him everything. He could carry it all, but I think that was when my first character was really underleveled so she only had 200 limit anyway. I usually only carry a set of armor, a bow and another weapon set anyway. I just hide in rooms when I need to regen health. Just smash your way through unless you have really high sneak

I didn't give him much. Used my stealth to backstab the guards and steal their gear. RP and everything.

Without spoiling too much, the Thalmor are a tough fight. I forst went in at level 5 - no way I could win. Finally made it around level 12, maybe higher if my memory is good.

Lol I'm level 28 and haven't even touched Bleak Falls Barrow, my... 42? Illusionist stopped at Ustengrav and my 47 archer hasn't gone to High Hrothgar. The only one who did the main quest had it's save wiped as it was a crappy first char. Oh, I forgot about my Redguard Mercenary, also hasn't bothered with Ustengrav, about level 25. I don't play the game that much, I just abuse training/pickpocket.
