Oblivion was the first sign of what appeared to be dislike for the ps3 and its fanbase. I had the 360 GOTY edition for Oblivion, so I played it vigourously in my youth. I enjoyed the DLC on the side too, i.e. battlehorn fortress, the tower, etc, that minor stuff. Unfortunately, as with all things of this nature, my enjoyment literally CEASED the second my 360 decided to ring out and die. I had a very difficult time with their customer service, they were rude, they didn't even CARE, yada yada yada, my point being that it left a bad taste in my mouth as I sat there and waited for my coffin to come in the mail. I got a new 360, and the HDD fell on the pavement at my moms house as I regularly traveresed there to visit (the 360 was for when everyone was asleep). Needless to say, the HDD just quit. And I lost EVERYTHING. Remembering their rudeness, I essentially told microsoft to hit the road and invested all my 360 games (and system) into a ps3 FAT, I also forgot to mention my fondness for Fallout 3 as well, and that file was gone. Basically, I purcheased both GOTY editions of F3 and Oblivion, eagerly waiting to sink my fangs int their worlds once more. I had money, I was looking for all the stuff like battlehorn castle, the tower, etc. On PSN. Mind you, I have already purchased these things with the 360, and I WAS WILLING to buy them AGAIN, since I am a huge fan of their work. Imagine my surprise when none of that stuff was even available to me with the ps3. My first question was "what the hell? why don't the ps3 customers get that stuff?" I shrugged it off (and though minor, I would LOVE an explanation for why that stuff never saw the light of day on PSN) and just told myself I'm lucky they even have it for ps3 in the first place.
Wasn't fallout 3 in similar waters with us skyrim fans on ps3? Correct me if I'm wrong (I only speak my mind if I truly believe I have ALL the facts straight), but weren't the expansions a timed exclusive as well? Though not personally affecting me as I got the GOTY edition down the road, I couldn't help but notice that there were now 2 different things microsoft got to benefit from while the ps3 fanbase got nothing. I understand a good chunk of this was because of SONY being a cheapskate, but it upsets me that bethesda would segregate and alienate their fans on ps3 by putting us second. Shou;dn't the customer come first? Why couldn't they just tell microsoft to bugger off? Why not say "Hey, our fans don't deserve that. We aren't going to alienate our fanbase."? The people like ME, who were willing to REPURCHASE their stuff, although on PS3, don't deserve to constantly be second handed. Why can't they view us all as equal? Moving on, I began to play F3. As soon as I got to the point where I could handle the DLC with my character, the game started to get horribly, horribly laggy and constantly crashed. Something I rarily experienced on the 360 was now a far from distant occurance on my ps3. At the time, people were outraged. I read about people who would beg and beg bethesda to fix the issue for ps3, and still to this DAY, there has NOT been a patch to fix it. Why not bethesda? Haven't we given you our money too? Why can't we be treated equally? Why ignore our pleas when all we want to DO is enjoy your games? And moving on to skyrim.
I STILL purchased skyrim after feeling neglected in SOME ways (obviously not all, but some). I was right there in the mall on release night, so excited I could barely contain myself. I rushed home and popped it into my ps3, and off I went. The game ran flawlessly for a while, until I reached that ONE point where the lag started to spike. And I remember reading about how bethesda neglected to send reviewers the ps3 version of the game. Looking back, sure, it's viable to believe they didn't want the unfixed lag to impact ps3 sales, but on the flip side, why take our money if you're just gonna keep leaving us trailing behind like a dangling carrot? I mean, if that's true, you want our money, but yet you neglect us. AND you were okay with lying to us about fixing the LAG with that one patch (1.2 I believe?) AND you were OKAY with us playing a broken version of the game, as long as you got our money (these are just MY theories, mind you) it was like you didn't care (you of course meaning bethesda). Turns out, we ps3 fans couldn't even TOUCH our game until late march (right? correct me if I'm wrong), and the game came out in NOVEMBER. And what irks me NOW the most is this EXCLUSIVE BS. After all these things we ps3 users have dealt with stemming as far back as OBLIVION, why would you turn your back on us AGAIN bethesda? Why couldn't you tell microsoft "not this time" just this once? What the hell did we do to you?
