Have you changed your typical playstyle on Skyrim?

Title says it all.

Have you found that you've changed your typical playstyle beyond what is required for the new levelling system? Or how about a typical race/gender combo? Personality of your character?

Me? While I've noticed that I use different races for the ES games i've played before, this is the first time where I've actually (seriously) picked a race that's not the default option! Usually, I take the default race not because I'm lazy, but pickup "clues" from the dialouge/events as to what the devs may have considered the intended race should be. In my case, I've gone Argonian.

Why? Well... they look cool, have that nice Histskin ability... and well, there's that *something* with a Skyrim-Style Argonian as the last Dragonborn...

I use an orc now and play as a master wizard that is curious about his ancestry so he studies different combat styles after he masters all the magic schools....in previous ES games, the orcs just looked like ugly green humans....

It's weird actually. In Oblivion I started by playing a huge Nord warrior that just went around hacking and slashing at everything that got in his way. Although I went through a few other characters I eventually found my favourite which was an Argonian which I played with a stealth/assassin/thief sort of role.

In Skyrim, I told myself that, due to the location I would start as a Nord, and maintain a warrior like personality, similar to that of my first Oblivion character. After getting through the Main Quest and some of the Civil War questline, I found myself bored and eventually gave in to creating a stealth type Argonian, almost exactly the same as that in Oblivion.

The moral of this story is no, my playing style has not changed, despite my best efforts to do so. Guess I'm always going to prefer sniping an enemy from afar than slashing them to pieces close up, and apparently I like doing it as an Argonian best too.

Nope. Archery forever! Although I don't stick with any one race. I like to mix it up.

Well, ever since I started to play TES I have tried different style. I quickly ended up as a warrior-mage/Crusader character in Morrowind, the same in Oblivion and it ended that way in Skyrim. I have tried to play different types of characters, but they do not entertain as much of some reason. I guess the answer is no.

I drastically mixed up my fighting style this time around with Nyan. Used to being stealth and stab, or run in and decapitate, playing a non-offensive mage was not only a challenge, but great fun. Granted I do enjoy chopping off limbs, but it isn't half funny to watch the bandits who were intent on skinning you, turn on each other with viscious guile as you stroll off blissfully down the path!

unlike previous games, i am forced to strictly roleplay each character due to lackluster content and mechanics. otherwise, the game becomes a grinding chore that is not enjoyable.

that definitely has some good points, but, mostly bad ones.

I don't know if it's Skyrim or just, "I" have gotten better, but in Oblivion I played a mage's and a warrior's mainly. My stealth char was a bit fuzzy on archery, so sneak attack up close and personal. I really svcked at archery. Now I play a stealthy char that mostly uses bow and am rather good at it.

Could be the different mechanics or like I said "I" may have just gotten better.

Nope. I learned a long time ago, back in Morrowind, how to build an Uber Character and how to make a character that is challenging to play and one that is weak. This game has not changed that, it works the same way.

Yes, I pretty much have to abandon shields now because magic takes up a hand.

The nature is actually interesting and there are much cool stuff to see.
I have fast travelled very little lately and have disabled the compass.

Oh, and melee characters are actually fun now and mages svck. Too many spells are removed, no matter if we've gotten many more ways to cast.

I will usually play a "tank" and run head long into any battle, but I made a Khajiit that wears only clothing keeps a sword&board for those tight spots and relies heavely on his bow.Which forces me to think ahead of time and plan out my attack, I'm not used to being fully sneaky and have to watch my steep and playing on master just adds more "holy sh##!" moments.( I play with no back ground music, so as not to get a heads up on someone attacking me) I love it when I end up fallen out of my chair cause of the scare I just got.
