I am only level 17 but I met a guy in the north sea when roaming around and he sent me on an amazing quest into Dwemer ruins and then into Blackreach. I just got him the lexicon - but I also got the Elder Scroll. I haven't done almost any of the MQ ever and I want to go through all of its quests in order - will this fubar me on the MQ?

If so I will go back to an earlier save and wait on doing Septimus (name?) quest - the crazy man.

it will not ruin the mq though its funny you can do it straight from the start.

I can confirm this directly for you. I did it around level 9 or 10 on one character that I ran just to get the Oghma Infinium so I could perform the bookshelf glitch with it. I only found out after getting the Elder Scroll that he would not give you the second part to gather blood until you were level 15. But I did that after leveling to 15, repeat used the Oghma Infinium to push all skills to 100, rising instantly to level 81 without taking any perks. The base save of that was solely a means to test various final perk distribution plans, but I can confirm that when you want to, you can definitely keep doing the main quest.

Ok - just so the MQ won't skip any quests in between Whiterun (I haven't even been to see the Greybeards yet) and the place where I am sent to get the ES.
