Haven't seen a ramdon dragon

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:08 pm

I'm level 18. Besides fighting the dragon at Whiterun and outside Windhelm with the chick from the Riverwood inn, I haven't seen another dragon. I do have a bounty to go kill a dragon. But I haven't had a random dragon attack yet.

So I've put the main quest on hold while doing ten tons of other stuff. And still no random dragon attacks. Is there a tigger in the game for these attacks to begin?

By the way, the 2 dragon fights I've had, so far, were amazing. Which i why i want more.

Yep, and you've triggered it already. You should be seeing them. I don't know why you aren't. There's a slim chance that it's just bad luck. But it sounds more like a glitch.

I don't think it's a glitch. I've had weeks (in-game) pass without seeing a random dragon, and I've had times where I run into multiple dragons on the road out of Falkreath.

So maybe it's just dumb luck?

I have a inventory mod (brings up a screen listing the items, spells, etc. etc) and a lock picking mod.

Do you use fast travel a lot?

That said, there's been plenty of reports on the forums that people don't see dragons for long periods of time, so you aren't alone. I went through a couple of periods where I didn't see them, and then get swamped with them.

Use less fast travel... you'll run into more dragons.

But nothing that might affect dragons, such as a mod that makes them tougher or adjusts their spawn frequency?

Do you use Fast Travel? Plenty of people report an increase in dragon frequency following arriving at a location via fast travel. Can't hurt to try. At least that way, if it does spawn, you can be pretty sure it's just dumb luck they aren't...

I thought you said you hadn't run into any dragons?... oh well
try finding a dragon cave, they like hiding them in the mountains but just start climbing random mountains and you will start seeing the dragon head symbol. go there and fight yourself a dragon. dragon appearance also increase after you take esbern up to the temple (either that or they decide they didn't like me for some other reason i have yet to determine)

also, if you run into a cave bear, just know the they are capable of facing a green dragon head to head on the ground, i got the dragon half health and this cave bear just came out and started tanking the thing! it was amazing when it B-slaped it to death (with a little help from my frost bow but it still did plent of damage itself!) it then came after me with still a little over half health!

I rarely fast travel. When I do, it's to the major cities. I don't have a horse either. Saving up for one though. I like running. Easier for me to go off road and explore. Of course, I've paid the price for my curiosity more then once. But it's fun.

I'll fast travel more. And no, no other mods installed.

I find there's more at higher elevations, obviously if you find a word wall on a peak, you'll find a dragon. Your bounty will likely be at a word wall.

Early on, I found just about every other time I fast travelled to Winterhold or to the College at Winterhold I'd trigger a dragon attack. I honestly can't remember how far along in the MQ I was, but I don't think it was very far, I was focusing on side quests at that point. I may have advanced it further than you have at this point, though.

On one of my char's I never fast traveled ( til after 1st random dragon ) and was at lvl 21 before I saw my first random dragon. Another char I was on my way back to Riverwood after killing the dragon with Delphine and ran into a random dragon at lvl 11.. no fast travel with this char yet.

Now my test char fast traveled in and out of the college all the time, and I think on average everyother time I went their a dragon attacked.

Some of it's luck of the draw, I guess.

All of these char's got about the same way into the MQ. If I want the random dragon' to attack I tend to do what need's to be done first, so I can go do what I really want the char to do.
