Having a child in Skyrim

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:34 am

Hey! I know it's impossible to have a child in Skyrim. But is there's mods of it? Does anyone knows?
Please tell me. Thanks in advance.

there are some mods, but i forgot the name. But just search on the nexus.
I remember there are pregnancy mods such as 'preg'. But as for child mod, there is a mod in (french is it, or german, i dont know) but basically there is a menstrual cycle for females and if pregnant, 9months later you give birth to a mini child.

That's just... too much.

Well, Fable had condems...

The idea of having childbirth in the game sounds fun, but it would be quite a long wait for 9 months, no?

I wish they'd made it possible in the game. You could get to name them as well. I want some strong Nord sons helping keep the house tidy.

No let's not make a RL simulator of TES imo and wanting children in the game too, that's better off in other franchises i think.

Amusing as it sounds, it's just way too Second Life.
There's a difference between immersion and too much RL, and that's too much RL by far.

Hardly, it's not as if they're going to grow up into advlts or anything, you're not going to have to feed them.

I think it would be pleasant to come home from a day of chopping wood or questing to find my wife sat at the dinner table with my two Nord sons. Chatting away and eating their dinner.

If you don't want children in the game you simply don't have them, it's not a major feature that would take up a huge amount of resources so why not ?

kids are annoying in the game and real life...i'll pass

those who want babies/kids in games obviously haven't experienced all the JOYS of being a parent in real life..."pet parents" don't count because pets aren't remotely as needy or draining as babies ;)

Sorry, I appreciate what you're getting at but that just makes it sound like you're Role-Playing "Erik The Middle-Class". :D
Come see him fill in his mighty Tax Return!!

It could give some awesome Lonewolf and Cub, Cable and Hope experiences though, carrying around your child on your back as you fight your way through a horde. i think it would be a great idea to implement!

Remember children in Skyrim are immortal, you could use them as a human shield in fights. They'd probably hate you for it though.

And that's why I've always considered having children in a TES game to be unfeasible and pointless.

The only way around the vast lengths of time involved in raising children would be to skip large chunks of time or to hyper-accelerate their growth. Both have no place in a TES game.

Not to mention if my character got into a relationship, the one who'd get pregnant would be me (or rather my character). Role playing a pregnant adventurer saving the world is not my idea of fun.

Ok, so first you'd have to make the game last at least 9 months of pregnancy. And then you'll have a baby. Then a toddler... Unless you plan for your game to last several years, you'll never going to experience the talking with your children, training your children or use them as meat-shields part ;)

As for a female character... Not gonna be much adventuring when you're 7, 8 or 9 months pregnant! But I guess you could bring the baby along on your adventures if they also made decent baby carriers - you'd have to stop like every hour or so to briastfeed or change diapers, though.

Nah. I'd love to have kids in the game - but adopted, older kids, then. The small ones, I have them at home already ;)

Excellent point actually.
