Having fun with the game

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:16 pm

Hey guys, i just finished all the Guild Quests and the main quests in Skyrim. Now that iv'e finished them, ive gotten quite bored of playing, and im wondering what to do. I just came here to ask for suggestions on what things to do, like starting a new certain type of character, or get achievments. Basically im asking, how could add more challenge and fun into the game? I remember in Oblivion there were sooo many other things to do such as doing the Shrines, and getting awesome things like the Skeleton Key, and many of the misc or side quest objectives were much more interesting. Anyways just my opinion really, but im looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

I hear your complaints loud and clear. I haven't completed the main objective or the side quests, but I am noticing a lack of interesting and worthwhile quests to complete. In the settings menu you can change the difficulty of the game, and creating a new character with a different race and playstyle might be just what you need.

In Skyrim, go find the highest sheer cliff, base jump, then start a game using a class you ordinarily wouldn't play.

Topics like these make me want to make topics like "100 or more things to do in SKYRIM [before you die]" or "A list of things to do in SKYRIM that you might have never done."

I'm going to think about doing this someday.

There are the Temple Quests, the Daedric Quests, the Civil War, No Stone Unturned, Thane Quests, Side Quests....

I would imagine you could spend a goodly amount of time moving from town to town just solving peoples personal dramas....

I cannot understand the "i'm bored, make me un-bored' threads

I can't make you have fun. As soon as somebody makes you have fun, it's not fun. Stop playing the game if it's not fun. There's an entire planet outside the front door

Wow. You have done everything?!

My first playthrough was as a mage. I played to lvl 61 and did Main, Civil War, Companions and Mages College. A few side quests. Took 185 hours.

Now on second as sneaky type with light armor. Lvl 51 atm and have done Thieves and Civil War (other side this time).
Have only ever done abt 1/3 of daedric quests.

Haven't yet collected all masks
or all Beneziah (sp? ) Stones
or been Thane in every hold
or bought all houses
or made all armor types
or done any Dark Brotherhood at all.

So much to do, so little time.

Finally got married.

Never used heavy armor.
Never been a vampire.
Was a werewolf but didn't get all werewolf abilities.
Haven't found all locations.
Never used a 2h weapon.
Never used a shield.
Havent yet sided with the Blades.
Haven't done the alchemy exploit to make ridiculously powerful potions, this is on my list for my third playthrough.
I haven't made a dead thrall out of the Arch-Mage.

Must stop typing now, and play more Skyrim.

You're on a floating rock circling a spherical fire at 60,000 miles per hour...how much more fun do you need to have?

People don't realize that there are TONS of original quests outside of the Main Quest and Guild Quests.

There are at least 26 listed side quests.

Then there are the 4 or 5 for each Thane quest, then acquiring the loot to get a house to go with the title.

Then there are the 13(?) more or less Daedric quests.

There is the Civil War.

There are 130+ dungeons.

Radiant is there, but it does get redundant after a bit.
.....

I'm pretty sure you have plenty still to do

But if you did manage to somehow do all of that, then now its just time to make new build types and get busy with teh lulz.

Just barely touched the 'Main' quest.
Tons to do out there if you bother trying.

do the daedric quests, finish all the INTERESTING sidequests (such as lexicon quest or something), and then find every dungeon in the game and clear it, once your done that (which will probably take 100 years) create a new character :D

I just started my glass cannon ShadowMage over again, this time leaving health at 100. I only use stealth and magic and spec. in 1h bound swords. I use all forms of magic and rely heavily on all forms for diff scenarios. Quite fun and challenging. Also, no armor. :)

Maybe I shouldn't have played a sneaky rogue type character from the start. The gameplay is just so easy though. Not that I can sneak up on most dragons or anything during the main plot of the story because I'm seen almost instantly even with maxed sneak skill. I still just stand in front of them and swing with my daggers and win. I don't seen another way to do it being a rogue character though. I've maxed out sneaking and being an armorer, I have almost all + sneaking gear, including doing the dark brotherhood quests. Dungeons are kinda boring just going through hitting far stuff with my bow for fun because one shotting everything with my daggers has gotten boring. I really don't see the point of sneaking anymore because I can pretty much obliterate anything just by swinging my daggers. I do like the game and am trying a mage to make it tougher, but holy crap, a rogue was about as easy a run through the game as I could imagine and against the bigger stuff, my sneak didn't make a crap at all and I still won just by swinging away standing still. So far I've done the first few dungeons with my mage spurting fire everywhere and killing things just as quick as my rogue from a distance. I'm not doubting the amount of stuff to do through the game, but did it have to be so friggin easy? My seven year old and never gamed before in her life wife made it through an end dungeon with me directing. WTF?

That may have sounded kinda of bad. What I mean to say is I love playing rogue type toons. I can't stop from being seen during major points in the game but normal dungeons I just own almost everything by one shotting it by standing right in front of them. Even though I'm seen instantly during major parts of the game I still win...easily. This just seems stupid to me. This is why I rated the game an eight. It's fun, but way way too easy.

Like others have said, I'm sure there are still plenty of quests left that you haven't even found yet.

Other than that, I'd recommend trying to play Dead is Dead, or Ironman style, which basically means you wouldn't reload if you made any kind of mistake, and if the character died, you would delete all of their saves and start a new character. Would definitely make the game more challenging.

And if you're playing on the PC, there's always mods. The Creation Kit comes out sometime this month, so I'm sure there's going to be plenty of great mods coming out in the next few months that could add hundreds more hours to the game.

I'm playing on the PS3. Dead is dead sounds horrible to me. If I have to invent ways to enjoy a game by making it hard myself beyond the limits of the game, then in IMO the game has failed. The rogue gameplay is dead because it's overpowered against normal things and irrelevant against bigger things because you're still allowed to win by default. Some people may like the godlike feeling but I prefer at least a slight challenge to my games. The dragon fights were so simple! Hit it a few times with arrows and then when it landed stand straight in front of it swinging wildly until it was dead. Against every friggin dragon? Even the main one!? Oh sorry, the main one didn't even require arrows because I had a shout to make it land so that's really all I had to do was run up and hit it... I appreciate your feedback but as much as I want to like this game, and kinda still do despite IMO it's generous faults, I'm still ending up bitter with it and sad it couldn't have been more despite all the hype. Beautiful game, enormously easy gameplay. Wish it didn't have all the violence or I'd let my son play it and enjoy some of the scenery.
