I once had a save file get corrupted, so I would never have only one save per character.
But I admit I go too far in the other direction. Many of my characters have over 500 saves, and a couple hit 1000+.
I save after I sell. I save after I discover a new map location. I save before I take a quest. I save after I take a quest. I save when I am about to enter a hostile area. I save after I finish a quest. I save before I turn in a quest. I save after I turn in a quest. I save when I level up. I save when I go in the kitchen to get a soda. I save before I spend a perk. I save after I spenda perk. I save when a play session is over. I save if my save I just made felt wrong (happened too slow or too quick). I save for many other reasons.
You dont even want to know how often I QuickSave.
Fumny thing is, I dont think I have ever loaded a save, other than when I start a session.
I am on the PC so I have the luxury of direct access to my save files. At the end of a session, I copy all my save files from "Saves" to "Saves.Zoya" or "Saves.Ivan" or "Saves.CharacterName" so that my characters each have their own folder. When I start a new session, I empty all my saves from the "Saves" folder to the trash, then I copy the latest save of the character I want to play from his own folder to the "Saves" folder.
I periodically zip up newer saves and burn them to DVD.
So yeah. I may have "issues".
