I'm having some issues with New Vegas on steam, is this norm

Post » Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:03 pm

I've only played this game for a few minutes and I have a few problems. The biggest issue is that I can literally walk over objects like counters, containers, stools, chairs, etc. It's getting annoying and I can't stand it.Then there is this dog named Cheyenne and for some reason the eyes are missing from the head and floating off to the right side.

I'll post more issues when I find them but this doesn't seem normal as I could never walk over these objects in Fallout 3.

No, it's not normal but at least you can get the game to load and that's a big plus! For the dog eye bug and possibly your collision issues you may want to try this - http://www.ravenmodding.terminal47.net/?gtlang=en - It's the most recent bug fix compilation (released today.) If that doesn't do it then post back with your system specs and mods and we'll try to figure out something else.

I still have no solution here. I know walking over containers, counters, tables, chairs, etc is not normal because I wasn't able to do it in Fallout 3.

Do you realize you're only showing 1 gig system ram? That's only half as much as you need for this game. I'd shut the rig down and unplug it, then open it up and make sure your ram sticks are seated properly. Wouldn't hurt to clean them with a little isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip as well. If that doesn't do it then run a mem test utility and find your bad stick. That of course won't fix your collision problem per se but going back online to Steam and verifying your cache may fix a corrupted file or two.

Not according to the posted minimum requirements on the DVD. FO3 only required 1 gig but FONV requires 2, the game engine was heavily kludged for this one and you need that much and more to run it effectively.

I still am not sure it's a ram issue.
