Heal NPC?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:03 pm

I have an NPC along on a quest. His health is very low and I don't have a heal other spell. Is there any way at all to give them food or a potion to keep them going? I tried stopping at an inn overnight but he didn't heal a bit. I kind of wanted this guy to complete a quest, doing Blessings of Nature and he can grow a tree, which will not piss off all the tree-huggers in the quest area.

We still have a ways to go and I really don't want to lose him.

There's a spell called healing hands. Usually they heal over time like you do.

If he is a follower, just let him go down. He'll get back up, they always do. Unless they get hit while they are down.

Definitely focus on the Dragonborn's health as a primary concern but there are a couple of healing spells you might pick up that could be useful healing other and restoring health helps your restoration level up. Whether restoring NPC's health has any such effect I don't know but I enjoy doing it. I had hoped giving a spell tome to an NPC they might learn the spell but I can see why they didn't implement that as if you are using your follower to carry stuff you want to use that might be....a tad annoying

In that quest going to the Eldergleam Sanctuary, Maurice Jondrelle can definitely die. You want to fast-travel with him on that one. Find the location before you take him along so you do that or fast-travel to a place nearby and you won't have so far to go with him. With followers, you can give them food and potions for healing but like others said, you really do need a heal other or healing hands spell. They do need help. Can you go back to an earlier save? :tes:

:o Wow.

Grand Healing is pretty high up, but it might work if you have it/can get it.

This happened to me too. The place isn't too far from Whiterun, so I advise to just be very careful.

I tend to loose him, by going off road. He should magically appear when you enter in to the sanctuary.

As far as I can remember, he is just a temporary follower so you cannot give him potions or food. I would have guessed that resting at an Inn would have restored his health, try waiting for an hour, then fast-travelling. If that does not help either, dance the fishy stick.

Haha, yeah, this guy can be a d*ck. He's tried taking on wolves and even a frigging troll with only his little dagger. But I already possessed the spell Heal other. Can't you reload? It's kinda hard to keep him alive without healing spells or using fasttravel.

That's because she's not essential.

@ the OP - Healing Hands is the spell you want. Most merchants who sell spell tomes should have a tome you can learn it from available.

I had Lydia killed a few days ago fighing a NASTY Lich style undead. They can die.

In the case of proper followers, only if they're hit by friendly fire while they're down to their last sliver of health and kneeling on the ground. When they go into the kneeling position, all enemy aggro immediately ignores them and switches to you instead, and outside of a freak glitch (I suppose) they cannot be killed by anything except friendly fire. You or another one of your followers hit her without realizing it, most likely. (Possibly by Shouting--those Shouts have a very wide blast radius; I've accidentally killed Erik once or twice this way. Hooray for the reload button.)

It's supposedly possible for followers in the "recovery" phase to be killed by an enemy AoE spell or Shout or the like, but I've never seen this happen in practice--and I've been in fights practically on top of a kneeling/recovering follower. Only times I've seen them die, it's been 100% my fault.

If he is a follower, just let him go down. He'll get back up, they always do. Unless they get hit while they are down.

Maurice Jondrelle is a quest-given follower and isn't essential, so that particular suggestion won't work too well I'm afraid.

I've seen many people report this and that followers have been killed by an enemy's power attack wherein the beginning of the attack knocked the follower down and the rest of the power attack finished them.

I've never seen this personally because I use Mjoll and I only started using a follower when I was well past 50, but I've seen enough people post the above experiences to believe it. :P

he's died on me everytime i do that quest because he's very weak and attacks enemies then gets himself killed...you cant trade itens with him so therefore healing hands is the only way to heal him.

Would reverse pickpocketing a restore health potion work?
Of course you would at least have to have the perk in the first place.

Grand Healing will restore 200 pts. on any non-hostile NPC's near you. I like to use it to prolong those random daylight thief attacks in Riften.
