Health advice hotlines around the world?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 5:17 am

Given the health questions we regularly get here, I've decided to try putting together a list of phonenumbers people can call to get free professional advice without leaving their comfortably dark basemants :P. For example, Australia has http://www.healthdirect.org.au/health-information-services/24-hour-health-advice-line covering the ACT, NSW, the NT, Tasmania, SA, and WA. http://www.health.vic.gov.au/nurseoncall/about.htm covers Victoria and http://www.health.qld.gov.au/13health/default.asp is for Queenslanders.

Lets see what we can put together :).

NHS Driect (England and Wales) 0845 4647

I used to work in the same office as the folks that did the Nurse helplines in the ACT, this was outsourced to a company called McKesson who specialise in providing these services worldwide

Cool, that's only of the major areas. The USA needs some love though (this is basically just a bump, in hopes of catching more people from there :P)
