Health Bar Scaling

I noticed that the health bar has a strange way of scaling. If I have a mob with some ridiculous amount of health, say 15000, when it is attacked it looks like it is recieving no damage until you get into the 1000 range. By the last few hits, the mobs health starts to decrease rapidly.

Is there a way to make this more of a linear method or am I stuck with this "curve"?

The reason I ask is because I'm designing a series of encounters in which you need to have items with a new 'stat' on them (added to player on Equip) that are calculated into damage on specific bosses. These bosses will have a ton of health therefore making them impossible to beat using vanilla weapons.

It just looks kind of silly when it takes 10 hits before you take a tiny chunk out of their health and then 3 swings later they are almost dead.
