I heard the ps3 version is inferior

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:15 pm

I heard somewhere that the PS3 version of New Vegas is going to be inferior. I'm still going to buy it, but it is unfortunate that PS3 owners are going to get another Fallout 3 GOTY crap fest. Even though the PS3 version (fallout 3) had muddier textures, jaggies in the distance, and poor frame rate it was still a pile of fun.

by the way I know there are going to be Xbox owners coming on here either to say "Xbox rules" or "Stop [censored]ing" well all I have to say is..... have they played any of these wonderful games on the PS3:

GTA IV, Ballad of Gay Tony, The lost and the Damned, Red Dead Redemption, Mafia II, The Orange box, Resident evil 5, Beyonetta. Ya know pretty much every single popular multi-platform game.

Which is sad because I'm pretty sure people have played these games for the PS3 like Devil may Cry, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock 2, and Oblivion. It's not impossible to make a game look good for the PS3.

I'm sorry, but where did you hear that? It's just speculation, since the game is not out yet.

I never heard of anything like this before and it saddens me if it's true.I wouldn't mind if it's nothing too serious as I won't even notice if anything is wrong.

The game isn't even out yet. We have no idea about how it will even run on the Xbox 360 or the PC, let alone the PS3.

Honestly, when people say they have had a hard time playing the PS3 version of F3 I had no issues, no bugs happened for me, the frame rate was always good and smooth, and it was fun. Something might be wrong with your system, plus NV isn't even out yet.

Bethesda & Obsidian are different companies. You will expect this from Beth, but we don't know much about Obsidian.

I dont see why a PS3 version would be inferior to the Xbox360 version. Doesnt the PS3 have the better hardware?

So you heard some random guy say the PS3 version is going to be inferior and took it hook line and sinker?

No, it isn't the PS3s fault that the game runs horrible. How do I know this? Because its the only game that does it. I played Fo3 GOTY yesterday to try to get back into Fallout before New Vegas is released. It froze 5 minutes after.

its the exact opposite for me..... also the reason it froze a lot on ps3 and kind of 360 is that broken steel would make it freeze

Having played FO3 extensively on the 360 (220+ hours) and PS3 (80+ hours) I can say that I had far more issues with the PS3 version (GOTY) than I did on my 360. I think it had more to do with a poor port than the hardware. I'm sure NV will play just fine on the PS3 and not be inferior in any regard other than the controller being uncomfortable for people with large hands.

While the PS3 has slightly better hardware, hardware has nothing to do with most of the problems experienced by alot of PS3 users with F3, it's optimization.
It's generally harder to optimize graphics and performance for the PS3 for developers and sometimes they just dont have enough time. Let's hope Obsidian had enough time before release as Beth clearly did not :)

Usually PS3 multi platform games are inferior for the simple fact that Dev teams code/develop on the 360 first. There are exceptions of course.

Yes the game was fairly playable before the add-ons were released. Now it runs 2x worst because of technical problems. We don't know much about Obsidian & if the game will run smoothly on the PS3 comparison to the 360 & PC.

This topic is turning into a platform war.

Until the game is released we have no idea how either the pc or the consoles will handle the game, we can only hope that they will be fine.
