Heavy Armor & Sneaking.

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:36 am

Okay soo i was thinking is it possible to have a sneak toon that wears heavy armor? I have the muffle enchant and my entire sneak tree perked out. with the steed stone would it be a viable option?

Yep. I have no trouble sneaking in Heavy Armor - it just costs more perk points than sneaking in Light Armor. Fill out your Heavy Armor tree on the left side until 'Conditioning' and you get weightless armor, ie. no penalty applied for weight/movement.
Self Enchanted Muffle on your boots is 100% muffle, instead of the 50% that looted Muffle gear is. The Steed Stone is also a good choice, but I use the Lord Stone for the Magic Resist. I also have the Quiet casting perk, and cast Invisibility. There's a sound aspect and a sight aspect to sneaking, and you need to eliminate both.

This.
Your question has pretty much been answered, but I can confirm that I have no issues Sneaking in Daedric armor. Some of the pieces have Fortify Sneak on them because I don't use Fortify Health/Stamina enchants and I wanted to use 2 enchants per item. I don't have the Muffle enchant on my heavy armor guy, but I will put on Shrouded Shoes from time to time. I even get NPCs bumping into me and displacing me without noticing me so: yeah, I have no problem Sneaking in heavy armor.

I think he/she means that if you allow your targets to get close enough to set off the poison enchant then you aren't sneaking very effectively. :P

Oh, gotcha. I always looked at it as more of an F-you than an actual weapon.

Also, if you don't want to spend the Heavy Armor perk to make your gear weightless, you can always just use The Steed Stone. It makes your armor weightless regardless of type and adds on a +100 carry weight buff to boot. Or maybe you could just use it early on since it's not far from the gates of Solitude and then maybe you can pick some other Guardian Stone.

Yes, you can easily sneak in heavy armor; the caveat is that it's either an end-game scenario for a bored assassin, or you need to accept that you just won't be sneaking very well in heavy armor until your sneak and/or enchanting levels are very high.
