Heavy texture popups in Skyrim :(

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 4:36 am

Hi all.
Maybe someone can help me or can confirm the problem.
If I move in skyrim (ie, outside in nature and not in dungeons or towns) then I see in the distance heavy texture popups. This effect is amplified when I'm traveling with a horse and then sprint to the horse.
This popups have the consequence that the frame rate always around 1-2 FPS downward slide and the image noticeably increased.

I have not installed any mods, game version is 1.3 and I have no ini tweaks. Perhaps it should be given as an indication that when I play with ini tweaks (increase visibility, increase by Distant Details ugridtoload etc. ..) these pop-ups do not occur but ich have many CTD. I think it has something to do with the 2GB limitation (waiting for LAA patch)

I play at the highest level of graphics included FXAA

My system:
Intel Core i7 4.5 Ghz @ 2600K
8GB RAM
Radeon HD6950 2GB
HDD: HD204UI Samsung 5400RPM 8.9 ms

(sorry for bad english)

Have you changed the timescale at all?

No.
What has Timscale to do with tree and stone textures that were popup in the distance?
It looks as if the textures loaded too late

I had changed the timescale to 1 on my game and had exactly the same problem, when I changed it back to default (30), the problem went away.

It's hard to say though, by default the game does load objects quite near. I have my ugridstoload on 9 and it's not as painful to look at as the default (5).

Wish I could be more help, sorry.

timescale is still default.

ugridstoload is also default (5)

If I put set ugridstoload 9, I have CTD after 10 - 20 minutes gameplay. Probably because the game wants to use more than 2GB?!

LAA should fix that, right?

the LAA should help CTDs, I definitely get much less CTD since downloading the third-party version, still some, but compared to vanilla (which was crashing every minute) it's a lot better and more playable.

Yeah, you need the LAA Injector Launcher (Skyrim 4GB mod on Skyrim Nexus). Then use the INI tweaks to increase LOD.
