Height bugs

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:42 pm

I recently created a nord and altmer but noticed something odd. My nord was created using the last preset with the size slider maxed but once i started getting close to people in 3rd person i noticed he was shorter then most nords and only slightly taller then nazeem and other shorter raced people. IIRC my first nord on release night saw eye to eye with all nord men but now my new nord doesnt stand up to others.

As for my altmer, the tallest raced man, there was definitely a height bug during my visit to the thalmor embassy...either he shrunk or everyone grew alot taller. The other altmer present were at least a head taller then me and malborn, a wood elf, was the same height as me. The strange thing is after finishing the mission and going to riverwood, my altmer was the proper height again.

Has anyone else noticed this with newly created characters and if so is it something caused by recent patches or do i have unique bugs here? Im on xbox so i blame that last kinect patch which i installed hoping it was some new free add ons

My bosmer was periodically level with peoples belly buttons. A quick double click of sneak sorted that out. I'm on xbox too. Hope that sorts it for you!

Go into 3rd person and make sure the NPCs are not slightly floating or in the ground, that can cause this effect in first person. It happens because the cell does not render just right. Next time you load the game, that cell probably won't have the issue.

There's just one thing that I don't particularly like about the game, which is a bit unrelated to the thread. I hate how when you're falling you just die in the middle of the air. It removes realism and also doesn't give us a chance to try and save our selves.

It's not the fall that kills you, it's the landing. The death animation shows you falling, but you are already dead when that happens. Now, don't hijack the thread.

I thought that as well but they are standing on solid "ground"...the thalmor embassy thing was just strange but obviously that was a cell issue as my altmer is proper height everywhere else. I felt like all the thalmor there turned tsun size :)
