Hello -- SKSE wont work with 1.6.89 -- Just updated

Post » Tue Jul 17, 2012 8:26 am

Hello -- I have not played in over a month, and have to constantly run into these problems.

But dare i leave elder scrolls alone.

So I downloaded the most recent SKSE -- compatible for 1.6.89 -- And my steam auto updates Skyrim.

It is saying that my game version is not supported. I loaded the .pex .psc files into their areas. I loaded the .dll/loader into skyrim folder.

Is there a grey area between SKSE and the Game right now???

I think because of those source/script files i loaded, I can not even load Skyrim via STEAM (no skse launch)

same error occurs.

Anyone have some insight?

No, the latest versions of SKSE and the game are working fine together. Are you also using Script Dragon perhaps?

Did you completely uninstall the previous version?

I find that you can't just over-write the previous version with the new version. It won't work. What I do; since I manually install it is I open the zip file containing the new version then I go into my Skyrim folder and delete everything that has the same name as the new version. Then I copy and paste individually the files from the new version into their respective folders. Works every time.

Hope this helps.

*Also, if you are using Scrpit Dragon you need to update that in the same manner at the same time as well. Although, the last time I was on the Script Dragon site it was removed, the space was for sale. Don't know if it's still that way or back up; but I deleted Script Dragon and haven't been using it.

Also make sure, that first Steam auto updates the game, and then install SKSE. To make sure, you can backup your INI files just in case and let Steam verify the cache - it will download any corrupted files - and after that (when all files downloaded) reinstall SKSE. It should work then, when starting with SKSE loader.

Do you have any SKSE plugins that may be causing the "wrong version" error? Also, ScriptDragon screams about wrong versions too.
