Help and some advices starting a new game

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 5:41 am

Sorry to say but I have to start all over again after this recent bug: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1304024-rescue-from-fort-neugrad-bug/

But can't make up my min going with warrior again or maybe mage?

What's your experience? Pros and cons?
What race to chose for each patch etc.

Thanks for your feedback. Still a newbie in this universe.

Warrior used to be good, then it took an arrow in the knee.
Mage used to be powerfull, then it took an arrow in the knee too.

Best bet = don't play this game :celebration:

I will take that and assume you are being coy. Or guess you're an idiot.
Anyway, to the OP if you are that unsure you should start your new game by trying a bit of everything. Try first with what you think you'd be best at. Like all TES games the beginning allows you the option to choose by giving you an eray of starter weapons/spells. Best bet is to explore a little with each and because you can progress the game as you see fit when you finally decide to move on with your choice there is no hinderence or penalties.
As an FYI I am playing as a spellsword. Never got into magic in Oblivion as much as this game.

there is no such choice.

do what you do, get the perks that you feel you need, this is especially true if you dive right in to master dificulty and play hardcoe style (no reloads)

races dont play a major role, but pay attention to weaknesses.....

now, pay attention to the crafting skills (alchemy, smithing, enchanting, and to some extent speechcraft)
and to a verry important skill .... stealth (sneak) that means staying alive in master difficulty
those little craft skill can boost your other skills, as can stealth (because you end up choosing the terrain)

for the rest, you need a bit of everything, but I guess a pure warrior can survive on salmon steak,
you ll just make frequest trip to riften and solitude and search for salt piles in barels...

the best is just to do what you feel like as you go

there is however a free bedroom at the mage guild, with safe storage in that room
bunch of barels, 2 closets, 2 night table, another smaller closet ... and they are 100% safe

also once you reach whiterun, take the cab there to visit all cities,
it will allow you to use fast travel between them
visit the farms arround the cities and get aquainted with cooking

dont forget to get a free lesson in smithing at riverwood

Is it so? But you still chose between mage, warrior and thief at these stones in the beginning of the game.

Pretty much a warrior mage. I level my one handed and destruction respectively. Match that with high heavy armor skill to absorb the damage I take from being unable to block. It works fairly well for me.

Both! Spell in left hand, sword in the right. It's so much fun.

You really don't have to choose. All it does is make those skills go faster.

Honestly I would play a Hybrid class maybe. If not...

Warrior:
Damage Skill: Two Handed, Or One Handed
Support Skill: Block, Archery or None
Defense: Heavy Armor or Light Armor. Both have good advantages
Crafting: Smithing and/or Enchanting

Mage:
Main Damage: Conjuration, MAYBE Destruction but not preferred
Support: One Handed
Defensive: Heavy Armor
Crafting: Smithing and/or Enchanting

The Mage build is like a Battlemage. My personal favorite. I like to wear Heavy Armor and when the battle starts I conjure what I like and then whip out a bound sword and use that to defend when an enemy gets close. Not the best build, but fun to use for me as I never played with magic before.

And race really doesn't matter. Pick what you wish.
